That's the opposite of what we need though, is it bi-directional?Fudoh wrote:$35, has coax and optical and the greatest thing about it: it even kills HDCP, so you can record PS3 and such on a BMD.

Don't mind the DVI connection instead of HDMI, just use a DVI to HDMI cable...
What's the difference between DVI and HDMI??...

I think so. From what I've read on it, you can feed HDMI with embedded audio through the DVI port and output HDMI plus digital audio from coax or optical.

HDCP stripper is all that's needed, right? Just so long as it feeds video + audio through DVI.

How good is the picture on the Wii U-or any HD console, for that matter-with component cables? What's the resolution with those?Ed Oscuro wrote:HDCP stripper is all that's needed, right? Just so long as it feeds video + audio through DVI.

Almost, it won't give surround sound, you'd need something to re-encode the Wii's 5.1 LPCM into Dolby Digital first, 5.1LPCM won't work over optical.$35, has coax and optical and the greatest thing about it: it even kills HDCP, so you can record PS3 and such on a BMD.
It kills HDCP too, are you certain?!

I have read that this box messes up timing (converting 59.9hz to 60hz etc) so if you have a picky display device this might cause strange effects!

definitely not, otherwise a BMD card would be the first unit to complain and stop working. The BMDs are EXTREMELY picky. I also don't see how a box like this could even change the refresh in the first place. There's no digital buffer.
