Re: The PS Vita Thread

The US-version of Persona 4 Golden has been released today; it's the highest rated PS Vita game to date. There is also a limited edition.
EU release date is 22 February 2013.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Yeah I had the same, got the Elite rating on every event in the first four tournaments, then the HDD crapped out and corrupted my save. Couldn't bring myself to play again at that point in time.Friendly wrote:Fury has 8 new tracks. I'm still considering the Mortal Kombat port, last one I played wad the N64 game way back, which, cool or not I really enjoyed.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
So there's a Amazon lightning deal tonight at 12am for the assassin creed Vita w/ playstation all stars, 30 day trial of play station plus and 4gb memory for $180.
Really, really want to try Gravity Daze.

Edit: I'm getting all of this info from Gaf, I'm not really sure if the deal is tonight at midnight or tomorrow at noon

Re: The PS Vita Thread
I just ordered Gravity Rush and Persona 4 Golden (apparently I like Persona 4 more than I dislike Atlus).
Wipeout 2048 still isn't here
Delivery estimate anytime before the start of December.
Seems like there's lots of Vita sales/bundles closing in on Christmas, maybe Sony IS actually trying to sell the thing. Maybe it will sell better than we expect.

Well mine is totally frozen. YouTube froze up and wouldn't even let me exit with the home button, so I tried to turn it off. Been looking at a frozen screen for an hour now.

I had that happen to me a couple of times. :/ You have to hold the power button for like, 30 seconds or something, until it brings you into Safe Mode.Marc wrote:Well mine is totally frozen. Games even crashed on me mid-game a few times too. I save all the time now, since I'm paranoid.

Hurm indeed. You could wait and get a Wonderswan 3D's when someone thinks it up and invents it.mesh control wrote:I think there's a black friday $199 deal for one of these bundles.
Still not worth the money.
Or spill out 200 for a Neo Geo X. It has tv out and an arcade stick. So take that Vita.

Still altogether inferior to a laptop as an arcade or something.
PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.

What the fuck is with all these glowing reviews of Gravity Rush? What a tedious, aimless, directionless, simplistic piece of shit this is, I'm truly dumbfounded as to how anyone can consider this a quality slice of gaming.
Uncharted is shit as well, but I at least expected that.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
The game ends right when the story actually begins to happen too. There definitely is going to be a sequel.
I love Gravity Rush and all, but speaking objectively, it's an over-glorified tech-demo. It throws a bunch of random Vita features, and tries to pass it off as adequate gameplay. My main problems were:
- Gravity sliding. Pressing the two bottom corners of the touch screen to slide, while using the Vita gyro to steer. Those challenges were not fun.
- The fact that gyro controls the camera as well... Since I can't sit the fuck still.
(It'd be fine if I could turn that off)
- And the whack-ass collision detection. You can clip into a street light or sign-post, and the camera will flail all over the place. This has ruined a couple of my Time Attack runs.
I don't think it's a bad game, but I don't think it even comes close to GotY material (I'd give it 6/10 at most).

Once you take away the gravity concept the game is pretty average. Also I didn't like how the game "holds you hand." Like when you are trying to get part of the town back the gems/health kind-of tells you what to do. Also I think it is funny that looking at the map it shows you which people you can talk to (more hand holding).
So far my favorite Vita title is the DJ Max. Has something for everyone in the music department and it is actually quite fun. Playing PS1 games on the Vita kind-of ruin the experience of playing the games on the PSP. The colors on the Vita just pops out, better than my PSP 3k.
I just pre-ordered EDF 2017 Vita today. I never played the game on the X360 but it looks like stupid fun.

I'm still waiting on my Technika Tune LE. If I new it was going to take this long, I would have just imported it.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Falcom's next Vita game is Sen no Kiseki (Legend of Heroes VIII). This will also be on PS3. I'm doubtful about us seeing it localized soon though, because there are four other Kiseki titles still in the queue for localization.
LoH VIII will use 3D models instead of sprites and have a revamped battle system.
Unfortunately, it hasn't been announced for PC. Even if it were and someone like Figli di Gaucci got to work on a fanslation, that would likely be a long haul. Trails SC and especially Zero no Kiseki are huge games.

I'm glad I just went with the regular edition. Got it less than one week they got the goods from Sony. You will love it.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Also I must say that you can change the wallpapers of the lock screen and each slide in the Vita main selection screen. For example I went with a Policenauts theme:

Of course the wallpapers will look ten times better when looking on an actual Vita of course.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Heads up: There is a new hack for the PSP portion of PS Vita.
If you are interested in using it, go to PSN right now and purchase UNO for PSP (costs 5 USD/EUR or 100 JPY).
Then use Open CMA 5 and create a backup of the game. The necessary eCFW to use the exploit will be released in a few days.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
The eCFW for the UNO exploit was released yesterday. I just installed it and it's working well. It's loading faster and more conveniently than the Gravity Crash exploit: All you need to do is press X once (for the Gravity Crash exploit you had to boot the game, then go to the level editor, then load the exploited save file, then save again). Furthermore, UNO is small (only 28 MB) so less space is wasted.
Sony has now removed the game from PSN. I hope that those who wanted it managed to get it in time.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
It doesn`t offer any benefits over previous exploits(save for being able to run eCFW on an up-to-date firmware). Only a new version of eCFW can bring those.Daytime Dreamer wrote:So what are the benefits of the exploit? Give some examples of what software you can run
Re: The PS Vita Thread
The hack is only for the PSP portion of PS Vita. Which is fine by me, because that's where Sony screwed up imo: I am certainly not going to re-purchase any PSP games I already own physical copies of. They should have given PSP owners a way to transfer their games to PS Vita.Daytime Dreamer wrote: So what are the benefits of the exploit? Give some examples of what software you can run
Currently you can run emulators and homebrew coded for PSP and boot PSP isos. When playing PSP games on PSV you can map the face buttons, L/R or d-pad to the right stick, which greatly improves many games (for example Parasite Eve The 3rd Birthday, where you can now move the camera with the right stick, or Super Stardust Portable, where you can now aim and shoot with the right sick. Most games also look better due to the great screen and bilinear filtering (optional), and they also have shorter loading times (apparently PSV allows PSP games to run at a higher clockspeed than 330MHz). PS1 emulation only works without sound at the moment; an upcoming eCFW called ARC may remedy this.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Damnit, now I really want a Vita. Or more accurately, I want to get a constant 60hz on Outrun 2006 and the Wipeout games. All of them hit it sometimes on the PSP [Wipeout Pure hits it the most], but Outrun 2006 is the worst offender [it's a bit conservative, and locks to 30 more than it probably should].Friendly wrote: (apparently PSV allows PSP games to run at a higher clockspeed than 330MHz).
The nicer screen and controls would help too.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Still really not getting the memory card situation on the Vita. If Sony is profiting this much of memory cards why not encourage people to buy multiple ones?
If I want to buy a second memory card each time I want to switch between them I have to actually reboot the Vita, wait a minute for it to "rebuild" some database which it does by randomly reorganizing my games for me.
Why? Overly paranoid security measures or incompetent software designers? And why no 64 GB card? I think even 128 GB should be possible now... Do Sony expect people to keep their Vita DD titles + PSP titles + PSX titles + music + movies on a 32 GB card?
Wipeout 2048 is sort of disappointing, I just can never get used to the 30 FPS, especially with Wipeout Pulse running at almost 60 FPS on an inferior platform. The engine sound they added is also ear torture.
Still no scratches on my Vita screen, better plastic than the one used on the PSP screen? Or perhaps I'm having trouble spotting them under all my fingerprints.
Exploit: probably will be buying and installing Uno just in case (I waste too much money on stupid stuff like this), but it's really not very convenient dealing with having to start games until they load a save game. Also transferring games is not a fun process.

Chances are, they COULD make a 64GB and 128GB one. But they won't. Because it's more profitable to just fuck over your customers and expect them to buy multiple 32GB ones.

BTW, I recommend getting a screen protector; I put one on the back and front directly after unboxing my system. For instance the ones from BigBen are cut to fit the entire surface of PS Vita, not just the screen. Otherwise you are bound to end up with tons of scratches sooner or later, no matter how careful you are.
As far as memory cards and file management is concerned, I am just as annoyed as you are, especially about price and size (got a 32GB card). The content management system is obviously Sony being paranoid after what happened to PSP.
