Internal RGB Amp vs External RGB Boost Cable (N64 and PCE)?

Post by akumajo »

Hi all,

I would like to know if there is a better mod for N64 and PCE DUO.
I currently have a N64 rgb modded (bright mod) and a PCE DUO rgb modded (sodipeng mod).

So, should I go with internal rgb amp or booster cables ? I heard bad things for n64 with internal rgb amp (assuming it's true).

Thanks.

I got an external amp via boosted scart for my PC Engine IFU-30 which looks and works great.

Going external helped lessen the complexity of the mod a lot.

Being "external" or "internal" has no bearing on how good the mod is. I don't know how that is relevant at all. The type of mod (components) used is what's relevant.

You should not think about quality, but more about compatibility issues.

I know 2 people with issue while using an internal rgb amp for PCE (ex : no picture with scaler).

I was told about same problem with n64 too (internal rgb mod), but never saw myself.

External booster/amp seems to have less issue (zero).
