ARKADIANAX, new shmup in Steam Greenlight

Post by anhojman »

Hello guys, this is my first post in this great forum (I don´t know if this is the right place, or development maybe).
I´m here to tell you about a new shmup coming to Steam developed by Sumersión Studio, and is waiting for your upvotes to get greenlit!
Please, we really need your support!

ARKADIANAX is a videogame full of powerups, enemies and surprises!

As pilot of the "ARKADIANAX" , get through different dimensions facing 2d and 3d enemies, upgrading your skills and finally, you´ll have to stop BUGATRON to restore the balance!
Discover this world and then become the guardian of the universe!

Some features of this exciting game are:

- Single player and local coop campaign
- Password and save feature included
- Full controller support (You can sit and relax in your couch!)
- English and spanish language
- Different difficulty levels for each player
- More than 30 enemies including bosses
- 8 bit inspired game music (An original track per level!)
- PC and MAC compatible
- And so many surprises!

The Universe needs ARKADIANAX, and ARKADIANAX needs you!

Thanks for your time :D
Sincerely,

Alejandro

Since I get the impression it's technically finished, this thread fits fine in here as opposed to Development.

I watched the video. Other than being widescreen (ugh), it looks interesting and worth a thumbs up but the backgrounds for some parts look awfully bright making bullet visibility a bit hard to see - maybe adding in an option for dulling the background colours a bit would be a good idea.

I would certainly give a trial a go and make a $5 purchase out of this game if I found it good to play.

Can't go wrong with GIANT FIST OF DEATH.

May want to put 'shmup' somewhere in the description so it shows up when searching that term. At least, that's how I usually find them in Greenlight.

How successful has Greenlight been so far? I haven't seen anything I voted on materialize into a Steam release yet.

The only thing I've voted for in Greenlight so far is Heaven Variant. I really should research how it works more closely....

EDIT: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/abou ... ection=faq

I can't see anything on that page for a specific requirement for amount of votes, but only by general popularity compared to other titles. Basically, you have to be pushing this game real hard, and more than other people on the mainstream side, to get it in through the door.

On the plus side, folks can submit whatever, pay the $100 one-time fee (which goes to charity anyway and is purely for deterrance of false submissions) and if they gather enough people to upvote it and it shows, it'll get in. Udderdude might have a chance at getting XOP on Steam after all, for instance, whereas under the old system the game was rejected (correct me if I'm wrong though there Udder, I read it in the XOP thread somewhere).

On the negative side, shmups are a minority and while I wouldn't be so pessimistic to say there's no chance in hell we could compete for numbers with RPG Greenlight projects etc, it would be very difficult at best.

Agreed. I had trouble distinguishing what was going to hit the player in the video (not playing of course, but I think it's worth looking at).

Looks different and good though overall, good luck!
Making an action platformer with a transforming grappling hook: ChainStaff. Also made a shmup with multi-ships: Shoot 1UP DX, and more .
