top pce shooter great music some of the levels can get a bit long winded butt well worht getting.

if ya after a top shooter get lords of thunder its the sequal to that game and much better, its got some of the best shmup music around.
it also got released on the mega cd with remixed music which is even better butt i think the pce one looks better as the colour palet on the mega cd is not quit right

Yup, GoT is a fine game. I finally got to the last boss last night. Then he zapped me, damn.

Not sure it did get a MCD release. Winds/Lords got a MCD release, but not Gate.

Gate of Thunder is a great horizontal shmup. I've only played it on the MagicEngine emulator. I'd love to get a PCE but I don't have any room. :(

Another decent shooter is Bari-Arm: Android Assault for the Sega Genesis CD. Some may call it a blatant rip-off but the game is cheap on eBay and works well with the Fusion emulator if you don't have a Sega CD.

Yep . . . .agree with y'all. GOT is a classic old school shooter that I used to play all the time when I had a PCE Turbo Duo. Couldn't get off level 4 though (I'm shite !!).

Haven't tried it on Magic Engine emu but I don't think my PCs up to scratch.

Wish I'd hung on to my Turbo Duo . . . . :(
Shoot, dodge, collect . . .it's the ONLY way to be !!

Great game with a great soundtrack.

I really should go back to it, got to the point where I could almost complete it on Hard, but became sidetracked by other games :(

Yea, it gets plenty of love from me. In fact, I played it just the other night and 1CC it yet again!

I always get a little "choked up" when playing either Lords or Gate...just because I love the music, and the style so much.
I often find myself mumbling while I play the game, saying stuff like, "Man, this is so fucking awesome"...then my hair stands on end!

Gate of Thunder came with TTI's Turbo Duo console package...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

At least TTI was smart enought to release a good shmup bundled with the Turbo Duo when it first was sold in the USA in October 1992 for $299.00 USD price tag.

Hidden Japanese kanji on USA Gate of Thunder Super CD-Rom2 game:

One day, I was doing some random button presses on the GoT title screen and managed to bring up a secret Japanese kanji script display on the USA GoT version Super CD-Rom2 game...although I forgot just how I did it -- it does exist though.

Clarification of above mentioned trick USA GoT trick: This hidden trick only makes the USA GoT title screen appear just like the original Japanese version of GoT appear on the title screnn for the PCE Duo console setup.

Guess I'll have to play this one someday. I've always heard nothing but good about Gates and Lord.

Woooooooo!!! I've just completed Gate of Thunder!! Was on standard difficulty and I used 2 continues, but still, I'm well impressed with myself.

Missus was wondering what all the swearing and then the huge cheer was.

Right, I'm gonna try Winds tonight. I can get to the final level, but all those minibosses over again is quite hard.

I feel like I'm finally regaining the ultimate videogaming skills I had when I was 12 and finished Thunderforce 3 & 4 and Gynoug.

I guess now you'll have to try and 1CC Gate Of Thunder...eh? :)

Also, maybe "Winds" does, but Lords of Thunder doesn't feature a "mini boss rush" at the last stage. :?
