I actually managed to get the Wayback Machine to ferret out Gorb's Lair...mostly because I was trying to remember which Fixeight boss was Asura. (Turns out it's actually an Outzone boss. The fourth one, specifically.) I decided to try to find out the Raiden page again, mostly to recheck the boss names there. Even though I knew he'd only had bosses 1-4 and 8 confirmed. On a hunch, I did a search for the raw katakana for the last boss.

All eight boss names are on here. The MA-27 on the seventh boss makes me wonder if these were actually terrorists in the game's early planning, though...
For those of you not interested in looking up the katakana, I'll transcribe the raw romanization, and any guesses I can make (well, made is more like it for 1-3, from when I found them long ago) on what they're supposed to be.
1: dezaatosupaidaa (Desert Spider)
2: furaingufokkusu (Flying Fox; a kind of particularly large bat)
3: farankusu Mk-III (Phalanx Mk. III)
4: gijidoo
5: randokuraun (Land Crown???)
6: gaadian (Guardian)
7: antonofu ma-27 (the ma is NOT in katakana; the Roman letters are used)
8: doreineejikoa
Raiden I boss names!
Re: Raiden I boss names!
Interesting names, I guess "antonofu" might be Antonov, there's some planes/ships with that name.
Re: Raiden I boss names!
Just looked in my Raiden Project manual, I can confirm the following:
1. Desert Spider
2. Flying Fox
3. Phalanx MK-III
4. Gijido
Unconfirmed, but the proper romanizations of the rest:
5. Land Crown
6. Guardian
7. Antonov MA-27
8. Drainage Core
From the Raiden Project manual, Raiden 2's boss names for stages 1-4:
1. Zelzelei Se Ful & Zelzelei Y Ek
2. Geldbird (zakos he spawns are called Nouzard)
3. Dal Yar
4. Balg (main) & Barlan (left tank?) & Abl (right tank?)
1. Desert Spider
2. Flying Fox
3. Phalanx MK-III
4. Gijido
Unconfirmed, but the proper romanizations of the rest:

6. Guardian
7. Antonov MA-27

Re: Raiden I boss names!
...I think I prefer my earlier Goetic demon names for the R1 bosses (in order: Bifrons, Raüm, Agares, Aim, Leraje, Sabnock, Oriax, Purson). More personality, at least. (And honestly, "Drainage Core"?)
What's interesting is that the R2 boss names share some elements with the R4 bosses they resemble. Taking the st. 1 bosses, Zeruzerei Se Furu/Zeruzerei I Eku (using the raw romanized katakana for ease of making my points), the R4 boss they resemble is called Exerey Iss. And I remember the katakana for "Exerey" ending in "zerei". St. 2 boss of R2: Gerudobaado. Main R4 st. 2 boss: Mairazard, with the "-zard"'s katakana being "zaado" (important point is the -aado; don't let the ba/za divide confuse you). St. 3 bosses: Daru Yaa in R2, Famel Ya in R4. Note the Ya(a) at the end of both.
Anyway, raw romanized R2 boss names...
1. zeruzerei se furu/zeruzerei i eku
2. gerudobaado
3. daru yaa
4. buru (first section), baaran (second and third sections), barugu (fourth section)
5. haakesutaru (first phase), aavii (second phase), gerumezu (third phase)
6. meshukii de raazu (might be mistaken about whether a space should exist between "de" and "raazu")
7. bozorugu tariin
8. garubu gadiimu
And from D/X...
Training mission: foruudogaateru
True final boss: nokureiizamiin
