CPS2 is definitely 4:3. The hardware renders at 12:7, but the monitor is supposed to scale it down (which it will). If you play in MAME, go into the video settings and set it to 4:3. Ryu will thank you.

Interesting note though, Progear completely tosses out the fact that the display is 4:3, so all the assets and the gameplay run at 12:7. Also interestingly, same with the CAVE PGM games. PGM runs at 2:1, with the 4:3 scaling. But all of the CAVE STG on it "play" and have their assets in 2:1. You can notice this really easy by playing Ketsui Arrange, setting your options to Trace, then holding diagonal.

Makes sense, but can't blame me for being confused when half the Mars Matrix images and videos on the net have a widescreen ratio.
Also I noticed the Ketsui thing just from taking screenshots from inside MAME then checking /snap, it's more like 1:2 though.

Well yeah, that's what I mean. Taking screenshots from MAME always produces images in the "hardware" resolution though. So CPS2 will give 12:7, PGM will give 2:1. For "proper" usage, you need to then scale them to be 4:3. Also, I'm specifying the aspect ratios for horizontal orientation, so yes, 1:2 for vertical PGM games.

Funny how while Cave have been making up excuses about Microsoft, Qute (who are a smaller company) have somehow managed to make two region free games without any apparent issues.

Buying this on principle to support region free games.

Which is what everyone should do honestly. I haven't backed out on ANY 360 STG purchases (full list), and I hope to get my hands on the NTSC-U region-locked games later. :D

G.rev is also guilty of this.

As far as I can tell there is nothing official about this. Play Asia currently has the pattern of pushing the ship date out another month whenever they get to within 5 weeks of the last projected ship date and this will continue until there finally is some word from Qute. Qute never renewed their release date. I'm currently under the impression that they are not going to send any word until Ginga Force goes gold (or they run out money - hopefully it doesn't come to this) - letting everyone know that it will start shipping in a few weeks. That could happen tomorrow or in six months, or whenever ...

Wasn't there supposed to be a live demo of Ginga Force beginning of September somewhere? Don't recall hearing anymore about that.

Since Ginga Force looks fantastic and it will be regionfree I can imagine to buy my first import 360 game.

But I was wondering if I could download patches and DLC with my european account and ip-adress.

DLC will require a Japanese XBL account most likely. Patches should be fine for any region.

Heads up guys and gals, the achievement list for this game just got revealed. Click on the link below to view:

With a list out now, this pretty much alludes that this game is getting closer to release and hopefully soon. If only we could get an official date though...

Ah didn't realized you had posted this elsewhere. Sorry if it seemed like I was stepping on your toes miss. Also I too share in your excitement as I have my copy already preordered from AmiAmi.

Latest Ginga Force tweets from the officials: http://twitter.com/gingaforce

After finishing a chapter (stage), you can choose the next one. Chapter X and Y are some kind of Training stages.

Score Attack lets you choose between 3 airships. Each airship has predefined equipments, and I guess that you start with 5 "machines" (lives).

Options lets you change volume, vibration, subtitles on or off, button config.

My Japanese is a bit rusty, see if the tweet translations are confirmed. ^^;

New tweets on the Ginga Force twitter. No clue what any of it is though, seems related to ranking and doesn't seem to include a release date.

If anybody gets this game or knows when the release date is, update this thread please. Already pre-ordered from Play Asia. This game looks cool from the trailer and I need a new shmup to play.

it will be fun to customize the weapons in Japanese. It will be kind of like playing a Japanese import RPG. Hopefully its not that bad though.

Only if he is also a master of disguise (and considering the mustache, he just might be)!
