do the ranks you get when you game is over mean anything?

I believe it's just categorizing your performance, sort of an interesting way of saying "you only suck this much."

Doing the suicide on the end boss to get more score seems to lower the rank you get though, but then its possible to get Silver Hawk rank still, but I haven't done it yet.

I think there's an FAQ somewhere which lists the different things which affect that ranking...it mighta been at GameFAQs, but I forget.
