I'd love to see some pics of how it looks today. At least the cabs weren't trashed.

We'll see tonight. And I'll take some pictures.

As I understand it over on Jamma+, cabs were removed on Nov 18th, and us lot last visited on Nov 15th. On the 15th some cabs were already gone, but not too many. So it sounds like even more have vanished.

And I hear 'gamer's boards' from removed cabs are in the office.

Next shmupmeet at my house?

I went and had a look but maybe you'll want me to avoid spoilers. Stuff has changed though.

Aww guys, I just moved to London and was really excited about getting to play a bunch of Cave games in their original format. Popped in yesterday and only Progear was left :'(
Are there any other arcades with shmups in around London?

So - a few of us went tonight (me, CHI, JDE, dan76, MX7, hzt), and the good news is that it's not time to say goodbye yet.

In short, some cabs have gone, or moved, and now downstairs all cabs bar two SFIV units have gone from the raised area. In the lower area it's still as full as ever, so enough for us shmup lot.

Me and CHI might have secured some of the boards from the removed cabs, and tonight we took out Shikigami no Shiro and replaced it (in the sitdown cab) with Strikers 1999. Games removed as pat of the cab clearout include Raiden Fighters Jet, Raiden DX, Mushihimesama, Strikers 1945 Plus, R-Type Leo and Esp.Ra.De (which I got back).

I took a few photos I'll put up this weekend.

Still, we still have a place to meet, hang out, install boards we choose, and play shmups!

And tonight I got my nose in about every 'backstage' area of Casino. Rancid!

There's still some games, and we still hang out there, so come join us! We always welcome new visitors to the arcade, and I'm sure we'll get another Cave game in soon. Alas, apart from maybe a Raiden here and there, there's little left in London in terms of shmups in the wild.

Keep and eye on this thread to see when we're next down - it'll likely be Thursdays.

EDIT: First post of this thread is now updated. That was gutting. We've now got a very pathetic 'list' of games...

Much obliged to hzt for hosting another hipster-tastic Casino illuminati gathering. I'm really embarrassed that I didn't do anything embarrassing this time.

A massive thanks to JDE too. You excelled yourself with that Svankmajer quiz and that chocolate cake.

Yeah I didn't do anything embarrassing either unless you count drinking 3 times as much as anyone else and being a dick all evening.

I got a video of spadgy at some point: http://-hzt.tumblr.com/post/36530391136/will-failing

Great night, next time I'm at one of these things, I will not eat an innordinate amount of food beforehand. One day I will get the balance of consumption right. Who's down tonight for some Strikers and chips and Snickers and moaning?

Finally, for those interested who're yet to visit Casino in the wake of the cab removal, here's some images.

Accidentally sent them lo-res from my iPhone to computer, and can't face starting again, so this is what you get. Let me know if you want any in higher res.

So, here's the basement of Casino, from the entrance end, showing that most floor space that did have cabs still has cabs (they're just switched about).

Image

But up on the platform area, it's a sad state (There's now two pool tables there):

Image

But, ever the optimists, we're installing new games still! Here's CHI helping The Enginer put in my Strikers 1999 PCB:

And if that wasn't enough, here's some snaps from hzt's birthday the other day...

Oh - and who's down this Thursday?

I should be there about 6pm too, as I'm at a press event in London just around the corner.

Oh, and my Wii U just got delivered so have it on me, so though we won't be able to actually use it at Casino, we can at least get it out the box and grope away at it.
