So... I have a question regarding Regions, on a whole, with this release.
Is it going to be set to "JAPAN" For all the games, or can we select the "USA" 2-Loop versions
of the Raiden Fighters Games?

I think it's Japan for all of them.

Got hold of Raiden Legacy today. The controls are great!

Unfortunately the framerate is horrible and it has serious sound emulation issues. At best it sounds like MAME before they fixed the tempo, at worst its bloody awful with random sound effects playing the first time I played Raiden, before I even took off from the flying fortress!

The autofire rate in Raiden itself is awful for the wide shot, and you can actually still move around the screen when you're dead and exploding! At least that isn't present in the Fighters, which other than the sound/framerate issues seem fine.

Please guys, if you're gonna patch a game ever, patch this.

Wha.. Just..... WHAT.. wow....
And to think I whined About the framerate in Deathsmiles when that first came out here?
I'm sorry, Aksys... I take back what I said about that. It's still playable and accurate on a whole.

Yeah, Deathsmiles USA was only arcade-inaccurate in terms of ingame slowdown, but Raiden/Fighters never had slowdown and certainly not performance issues/stuttering/random bomb sounds playing and 1/5th of the music running stuttery at the beginning of Stage 1.

For the record, I'm running an iPhone 4G. An interview with DotEmu said this thing would run fine on a 3GS and above. Maybe iPhone 5 people will be better off?

One other thing: I think you start off with one more life than you should. It displays three stock when it should only be two, and I don't think it got changed from lives remaining to total amount.

Have tried the game on a few iOS devices.

iPod 4 / iPhone 3GS & 4, are playable but gets choppy sound and also frame rates can get choppy.
iPad 2,3,4 / iPod 5 / iPhone 4S & 5, smooth frame rate with no sound skipping issues from what I saw at least in the small time i tried it.

Sound could be better regardless as it seems like they used a low bit rate.
Would prefer they increased the app size for better sound quality.

Please note I've have not played the Raiden games before this.
Well maybe once before.

Kinda regretted selling my jap 360 version of this, it's an awesome set of games.
Dot emu have done a great job from what I've played so far especially for the price it is crazy cheap.
Wouldn't say the controls are as responsive or silky as the cave ports but what ever is.
More then happy cheers dot emu.

First impressions are quite favourable, although it does seem that whilst touch control is directly mapped when on full screen (and thus without a comfortable dead zone to stop your finger getting in the way) it's not directly mapped when the screen size is original (and you do have a deadzone).

I've been waiting for this, but with some of the performance reviews in this thread, I think I'm going to wait till it gets an update before pulling the trigger. I'd like to support more games like this being developed, regardless of what platform its on, but it's the principle of paying for software that is not properly QA'd before release.
Bugs and performance issues is my #1 deterrent from buying a game.

Each to there own I guess, but after a few hours of playing I fail to see any performance issues that stop this from being a must buy.
For me it's not to far off the 360 version (running on an iPad 2)
After the Cave ports especially Cave's HD releases for me this sits right behind them.
Love it....

...think I'm going to have to re invest in the 360 version again :|

If you play the intro for Raiden Fighters JET the music plays fast, like what it did in MAME before the fix to the sound driver for it to use the correct tempo. Might be related to that, or they really did just stream the music and compressed it too much.

I actually thought the controls were perfect. The way the charge shot was handled for the ships was good too. Just don't set it to the arcade one unless you're using an iCade or something.

I think it could be device-specific. If you have a newer iPhone than mine then you probably won't have issues.

Bought it. it runs smoothly on my machine, so i got no complains at all.

thx to DotEmu for such a piece of emulation. Only think i dont like there, is the responsiveness of the touch controls. they feel a lil laggy... but besides that, i like it!.

Runs flawlessly on the 4s and the ipad3.

And yes, controls are slightly laggy, but far from unplayable, just something to get used to. Btw, what's the difference between arcade and fast touch controls?

Any word on how it runs on an iPad 1? I'm guessing I'll probably be better off just getting it on my Android phone, but the bigger screen would be nice to play on.

im playing it on a SGS2, and it runs pretty smooth, and looks great on that 4.3" screen.

Love playing this on the ipad 3, but I haven't had any problems playing it on my iphone 4 with the filtering off.

Not a bad port for a mobile game....however, is it me or does everything seems to be a little faster than the 360 version. Makes it feel a little strange in that regard.

Also....I hope better shot/chargeshot control options are added. I find it difficult to pull of some of the finer scoring techniques that makes the fighters series what it is (uncovering miclus or fairies...more precise medaling, etc). Basically anything that requires shot control. Without better handling of the shot....I'm pretty much stuck playing this as a survival game on my phone or tablet. Maybe they could allow pausing the autofire by using multitouch with the hand that's controlling the ship....then by lifting the second finger off...autofire resumes.

Also...ship movement feels a little choppy. If this had ship control along the lines of shogun; rise of the renegade, it would be nice. That is one mobile stg that has pretty solid ship control and having a similar smoothness here would make the game that much better.

Those things aside its not bad but could use some fine tuning to make it what it could be.

how does one hold bomb to pick a slave/fairy? playing this on iphone doesn't feel nearly as smooth compared to a lot of other ios ports. i'll stop moving my finger and the ship keeps moving sometimes, never had that issue in the several other ios stgs. is there an option to change the way it tracks you on the touch screen?

since I have ipad 3, I felt encouraged to buy this.
Emulation is passable, though I would not call it silky smooth.
Controls are fine, but the ship has noticeable lag which makes it difficult to survive in tight spots.

I am glad to own legal copy of raiden fighters series, after that xbox360 fiasco, but on the other hand I wish that this could be improved. As it is now, it is only good for few plays.

Is there any way to change the amount of lives you start with to three? I've not found a way but I'm wondering if I'm overlooking something. Starting with 5 lives feels excessive

Also...tightening the 1:1 control would make this much more enjoyable

Nope. Tried myself. I figure it might have something to do with the difficulty setting but didn't notice a difference there either.

It's updated to 1.3 on iOS devices now, but it still is just as fucking buggy as it was before - random sound effects getting played in Raiden, and generally buggy framerate everywhere. At least they raised the autofire rate in Raiden.

I wanted to like this, but the controls are just so bad with lag. Ship slows down just before it gets to where I want it to go, and it's infuriating.

Kinda want a refund. =/

I'm gutted by this too. Control issues aside, it ain't a bad port, but what's a shmup without good, precise controls? A waste of time and money, that's what.

Maybe they'll be a patch that makes me fall for this one. I hope so!

I'm getting an I-Cade for Christmas. Should be cool to try Raiden on it.

So I guess I'm the only one with random sound effects and choppy performance happening for me then?
