NEC XM29 Issue With Pictures

Post by Joe T. »

Sup y'all,

So one of my XM29 monitors (the one I keep vertical), has had an issue, pretty much as long as I've had it. When powered on, there are white horizontal lines that run parallel from the top of the screen to roughly the middle of the screen. When playing low res games on Saturn or PS2, these lines are not very noticeable, but when I have my xbox 360, or NES hooked up, these lines are very much noticeable and distracting. I'm not really sure how I can even describe them so here are some crappy pics I took with my phone's camera:

Can anyone offer any insight or advice on what may be causing this or how to eliminate it? Any and all help would be appreciated!

if this was a sony display, i'd say you should try tuning the screen pot on the flyback. i'm not sure this is the same issue and if the needed pot lies directly on the flyback as well. ideally this shouldn't be because of the way these necs are built. i wouldn't want to fiddle around with the flyback in such a nec while it's running, because it's very narrow in there and you need to take some bits out to get to the flyback too.

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

Flyback will only have voltage (brightness) and in some cases focus adjustments.

Pop the case and see if you have the ability to adjust the vertical height. This is a convergence issue. Hopefully the problem isn't more serious.

My next solution would be to go next door and pay Bob a visit, since he has 38323892382 of these monitors.

You can adjust picture height/placement in the OSD. Try bringing the image down and shrinking it vertically.

So yeah, I ended up buying another one from Young Slusm. Hopefully this one doesn't mix past the proverbial mess.
