Modding the Shinybow 6x2 SCART Matrix Switcher for R/L audio

Post by Otoko no Zenyou »

So, I am looking for a bit of help. After a lot of research into SCART switchers and reading a lot on this forum as well, I found Shinybow. I ended up purchasing the Shinybow 6x2 SCART Matrix Switcher. Great SCART switcher, I experience absolutely no loss in quality through it on my NEC XM29+.

The problem I run into is with the audio. It says stereo audio is supported no problem right on the case. But no matter what, I only get one channel of audio through it on each port. I have looked everywhere for an answer to this, and all I have found that someone on these forums talked of these switchers and how you did need to mod it for R/L audio, yet it was an easy mod to pull off. I still am not exactly sure why I need to mod this to begin with, as it says it supports stereo audio through SCART right on the case?

I have taken this switcher completely apart and looked at the board, but I am at a loss at what I need to do. I assume I need to do some soldering but I am not sure where exactly and to what. I am hoping some of you out there have done this mod to your Shinybow switcher or have some information. Any information at all would be appreciated! Only having one channel of audio is really bugging me.

Thanks!

Here is a picture of the top and bottom of the board, sorry for the flash, was trying to get in as much detail as possible on the board.

You're not getting stereo out of the SCART output? That is... exceptionally odd :?: I would have just RMA'd it.
