Black Friday haul?

Post by Specineff »

So... anyone managed to nab a good deal? I snatched this laptop at Fry's Electronics for about 180. Yeah, it's crappy, but it can't be beat for light use and probably old system emulation:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834310622

Brother snatched a store display 2.2 Ghz 4-core Macbook Pro for 1150, and that also let us grab a printer for 60 dollars with a 50-dollar rebate. And the line wasn't even that long before we got there for a 4-hour wait.

Really hasn't been much that has caught my eye. I bought a ton of anime from Rightstuf, but I won't post all of it because most people probably don't care. My buddy works at Gamestop and he snagged me a few things from the Buy 2, get 1 sale, though. Wound up getting Dark Souls, Ken's Rage, and Akai Katana all for 30 bucks. Fairly happy with that.

I got a 25 gift card for Walmart for getting a check up, which I used to get Dishonored when it was on sale for 25 dollars on Thursday. I got some $3.99 Blurays (Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Hellboy II, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Iron Man) for Christmas and Skyrim 360 for my sister there too.I also got some more Sega Vintage Collection packs for 360 (Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Alex Kidd) since they were down to 400 points. I got Doom II 360 for 400 points too. Some of the stuff I'm getting for Christmas like Super Mario 3D land, Mario Kart 7, and some Xbox live gold 3 month cards were also Black Friday deals. I got my sister a the PS3 Black Friday pack (PS3 with inFamous and Uncharted collections) from Best Buy, as well.

PS3 was 200 dollars, the 3DS games were $29.99 (I'm getting 3DS XL for Christmas) from K-Mart, and the 3 month cards were $10.99 from Amazon (with one 10 dollar one that I found at Target).

Got Forza Horizon for $15 via Walmart, and Skyrim, Sonic Colors, and RE: Umbrella Chronicles for $40 total at gamestop. Pretty good haul; happily, the used copy of Skyrim came with all the pre-order stuff.

I didn't really see much worth bothering with this year, but I did grab XCOM (360 version, I'll probably use it as trade bait since I'd rather play it on PC) for $25, Forza Horizon for $15 (from the online Microsoft store) and a DVD or two and called it good. Also got the download version of Akai Katana for $15.

Nothing. Thanks to Sandy, a lot of food had to be replaced due to the extended power outage, eating up any and all extra cash.

No one got hurt, thankfully. Just some frayed nerves by the time the power came back on. A nearby dead tree from a neighbor's yard did go down, hitting the edge of the roof (shook the whole damn house too). No major damage from the looks of it, but it needed some fixing.

Decided to not venture out on Black Friday with the usual long lines & whatnot. Plently of law enforcement as well, especially with the Sheriff's horse patrol unit out in full force. The aftermath of the BF event was plently of trash strewn around as expected at a typical shopping center joint. The local Best Buy did provide a porta-potty facility for those waiting in line, having to do #1 or #2 if nature called. That was a surprise as they didn't provide that type of restroom service at the 2011 BF event.

At the 2011 BF event, both BB & Target opened at 12am midnight - a first, right there.

This year, Target opened their doors at 9pm on Thankgiving night & BB opened at 12am Friday morning as usual.

I got the Vita bundle from Amazon and Armored Core V for $10.

I didn't plan on buying a Vita until sometime next year, but I don't think that Amazon deal will be beaten any time soon, even with a price drop and bundles. I've always had an interest in ACV as well, but I never bought it because I figured it would be 2hardcore4me. Worth a shot for $10 tho.

Here in Eurasiashire we don't get Black Friday. We did used to have something called "Black Death" but it seems to have been discontinued. It apparently caused some pretty crazy scenes too.

I had a few small pick ups. Paradox War Chest on Amazon for $7.50 which includes Victoria II + A House Divided, King Arthur II, King Arthur Collection, Achthung Panzer Kharkov 1943, Gettysburg: Armored Warfare and Hearts of Iron III Collection. I picked up Kid Icarus Uprising for $19.99 at Best Buy, Zombie U for $25 at Bullmoose but I had credit so it is not really a BF deal, and three of those little Mario Kart Air Hogs R/C cars for around $24 using a Groupon coupon and the sale at TRU. My daughter has been playing with the Princess Peach R/C car all day so money well spent on those.

I literally only bought myself a pack of CD-Rs on Black Friday. Fuck that noise.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I picked up Dishonored for 25.00 then got Hungar Games and Promethius on Blu-ray.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

If "Cyber Monday" counts, I nabbed some sick deals on shoes/socks from http://www.sierratradingpost.com (not sure what clothing has to do with Cyber Monday, but they claimed that's what the sale was for so I'll bite :D). They had stuff on sale, plus if you signed up for their newsletter e-mails (which can be canceled thereafter) you got an extra 35% off + free shipping for orders over $100. I hadn't bought shoes for a long time because I usually stock up when I find good deals. I ended up snaking 3 pairs of shoes and then my wife's dad wanted some "smart wool" socks, so all in all I made out like a bandit (saving like $230).
