It just baffles me that blaming the driver is all anyone is talking about. It's like the fact she broke up a fight between two students is completely irrelevant to people. Hell, I grew up in that province and the kids on those busses are little assholes. And is swearing really a point of concern anymore? I mean really in this day and age it's common, accepted in many situations and just seems like such a trivial thing to focus on in that situation, let alone formally punish over.

It really bothers me that this is happening in my home province. We're a land of dockworkers for christs sake. Language is the least of anyone's concern. And again, still no reporting on the actual fight. Only concern over profanity.

I really don't like how badly people seem to paint the driver. If swearing was it, there's no fucking reason for such a heavy handed reaction as firing. It's not like the driver was dealing with little elementary kids [where firing for swearing at them might be expected, even if still not completely reasonable], by this point, the kids are likely swearing every other word.
The driver's response to the situation wasn't particularly professional, but that's it. Blaaaaaah.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
1) people who call my house to ask if I`m awake. I`m starting to think I need an answering machine that plays the message "I`m asleep, fuck off" during the appropriate time of day.
2) commercial emails with no content but a link to company`s webpage. Thanks morons, but I already knew how to get to your webpage.
3) commercial emails which ARE a webpage, which are useless because loading arbitrary content from the web to render an email is dumb and a security hole, and hence is disabled.
4) badly configured roads. For instance, around here where the number of lanes and whether they are meant for turning or going straight changes randomly every block. Intersections with two lanes going in which immediately merge to one on the other side are my fucking favorite.

This reminds me of something I have to suffer through at work. We have a guy who sweats profusely. No problem really, but the big issue is that he doesn't shower often enough. I'm not kidding when I say I doubt he showers more than once a week if that even. The worst part of my day is when we have breakfast break at work and he's there at the same time, stinking up the whole room.
And my boss doesn't think it's worth discussing this with him. Am I supposed to tell him to clean himself up?

ahh thats awful. If it got bad enough, I would confront him about it. then all your coworkers would love you
I've started to run across albums that I'd prefer to own on vinyl, but which are for some reason released as 2x LPs when they would fit on one. I ran across Om on youtube and ran to Amazon to buy their newest album, but stopped when I noticed that it's on 2 LPs despite the fact that it would fit on one just fine.
In a lot of cases an extra disc is just the result of the album being written and recorded for a medium with different constraints, and it's hard to complain about that (though I'll skip the vinyl edition unless it's something I really love). But if it can fit on one and isn't, I've gotten to the point where I won't even consider it. Just knowing that the disc change and extra flip are unnecessary puts a damper on the whole listening experience.
I joined a little "retro" gaming group a few months back. Met a dude through other dudes that surprisingly liked a bunch of obscure stuff in my podunk city. Has a PC-FX, an FM Towns Marty with Splatterhouse, praised Lords of Thunder for the TurboCD, etc; the type of person I never meet in person, really. So, he created a group to meet up, play some games, meet new friends in the hobby, etc. I knew a few people from the group already, who I know don't like games "outside the norm," but there was still a handful of other members that I don't know. A few were a little older than the aforementioned, so one would think they may have discerning taste, right?
First meet up: "Let's go old school! Let's play some Mario Party and some Goldeneye multiplayer!" My cue to probably just depart. It's not worth it. We never met up. Maybe next time someone will have a better idea, maybe? Didn't happen anyway. A baseball game was on, so we canceled.
Impromptu meet up: "Let's play Super Mario World on my projector!"
Second meet up: "Let's get together and play the Wii U!" Sigh. Didn't happen.
Third meet up: "Let's play some 'classic' Halo!" Fuck this.
I dunno. I don't even have a problem with those games, really. I just...get my hopes up.

4th meetup: ARRIGHT GUYS LETS PLAY SOME DAIOUJOU.
i dunno, I usually dont game with friends because I can't have a good time playing shit like 'classic' halo.
The only people I have legitimately had a good time gaming with are the guys from this forum
Agreed on both parts! I've been to a few meets thus far, and each single one was a blast. I don't really play games with others, but occasionally I will introduce friends into old games that they wind up loving. Extremely gratifying when it happens, although it doesn't happen very much. I've shown a friend multiple things: Progear, Sunset Riders, Ys series, Parodius, Myth, Gunner's Heaven, etc, and while they'll initially be intrigued, it doesn't last long before that fades away, only to just become whimsical entertainment that is soon forgotten by the latest Steam sale. I dunno. Different times, I guess. Same thing applies to friends who are "interested" in anime, books, movies, etc. Guess they just don't want to be OBSESSED like myself.

Wow, thats exactly what happens with my friends. I have accepted that I'm obsessed with this shit though. Today a crowd gathered as I played ketsui in the physics building at my university. Usually I would be excited to tell everyone about how awesome shmups are, but I realized that nobody really cares, closed my laptop, and walked away

Shoulda played Touhou; the patterns are so pretty, lol.
I know the feeling; a coworker today asked me what sort of video games I play, Mushi Futari and Deathsmiles obviously got a blank look, but I tried naming every common shmup I could think of from Gradius to Ikaruga. He then started to tell me about Pokémon. I grew out of cockfighting-themed RPGs a long time ago.

I can deal with sweaty smelling people. I can't deal with people who smell like fungus/shit. It is the worst.

It's because if you put too many songs on an album, they sound like shit. Double album = High quality sound.
I've heard of that, but assumed the point where quality starts to degrade is when you start going past the typical 22 1/2 minute mark. For example, I think side two of Dark Side of the Moon is 23 minutes and still sounds just fine. At what point does quality start to degrade?
(I've heard of albums with sides approaching 30 minutes which were probably cases that would have been better off as a double)
The biggest difference is when you can have 45 rpm instead of 33,3 rpm as the bass get way better (higher resolution). It's far more common to have 45 rpm 12" records in Europe than in the US though. The principle is the same as with digital audio compression, I remember buying K-Tel compilations from the 90's with 15 tracks ON ONE SIDE! Then buying a maxi single with a single of these tracks and getting blown away by the difference.

Well hey, it was you that got me hooked on shmups, so that's one in your book
And yeah, I've had similar luck trying to get other friends involved. Though one other friend of mine I've gotten to play Ys, so that's cool
Grow up people. Profanity is not a big deal. Two kids fighting is.

yeah fuck people. That woman had to be at the end of her rope driving a bunch of little shit 14 year olds around everyday. People nowadays are always looking for something to be outraged over. It's pathetic.
Or you know something, the school was probably looking for an excuse to replace her with someone else with less experience, for less money. You know, seniority and all that.
