Heh, nice to know that, aside from the rare individuals, members of shmups forum people were afraid of hard games already back then.
But really, if there was no in-depth ST explaining rank mechanics, convenient savestate practice, or easily available superplay references, I can totally believe people considering it impossible even beside that. This game just happens to put people off when they experience the brutality of poorly controlled rank.

Daaamn nice way to start the day! Decided to not play Touhou for once, haven't actually done any "attempts" in this game in forever, and no practice either, and I just 1cc'd it right away, haha. Wasn't prepared for that. Especially not when I used 2 bombs on the 1-up tank on stage 3 without destroying it.
I don't know all of Glowsquid's patterns but he must've gone easy on me because the entire second phase was tap streaming.
Thanks, mate! When I started with shmups I never thought I would clear Garegga, and now today it was like stealing candy from a baby (not quite, but in comparison to how it seemed then.)

So I've just started playing this with Gain a bit. Scoring, well... one little step at a time. Fuck the game over trick. I killed BH MK2 way too quickly and didn't score enough. Next time I'll make sure the fight goes better. Stage 6 with Gain just wrecks me everytime... and It's so easy with Miyamoto. I think this was the first time I didn't game over on stage 6 with Gain. I will improve this score by several millions that is for sure.
