It’ll be re-coded from scratch by Curve Studios in London, creators of a number of great PS3 games like Fluidity, Hydroventure and Explodemon. It’ll be super-smooth running, and better yet (for my European cousins, at least) the plan is to include translations into French and German.
I’m greatly looking forward to this, as it’s been a dream of mine since childhood to release a game on console, and especially the Sony ones as I love what they do most of all. Anyone who follows my twitter will know that I don’t tend to play games on PC, I really am a couch gamer, most happy on my PS3! Lone Survivor was designed as a console game (in my head, anwyay.) In fact, all the games I work on I really imagine being on console, or fantasise about, anyway!
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Not that anyone here cares (probably): Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified launches today. There is also a bundle which includes a 4GB memory card and is sold for $249 USD.

Yep, that Vita bundled set was offered for sale at my local Target store at 12:01am earlier this morning. Was thinking about buying it but passed up on it.

It's pretty good value for money, but if I were to buy a Vita now I'd probably rather go for the white Assassin's Creed bundle.

I think there's a black friday $199 deal for one of these bundles.
Still not worth the money.

Good thing your opinions are free.......
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Video player... supports closed captioning? My plans of staying on an exploitable firmware might end right here. I don't have a good portable video player at the moment. I do want Outrun 2006 on my Vita and potentially Valkyria Chronicles III
Actually ended up replacing my Vita for one without pixel defects, turned out to be quite expensive especially since I wanted it fast (in case of a firmware update) and the only place I could rely on to get it to me fast only sold the 3G version.
PS+ would've been more tempting if they would discount games to members, not give them away for free on the condition that you NEVER stop subscribing.

It does. Not sure what relevance this had with the discussion you were having though. The Vita doesn't have an USB port?
Some games should be able to save to the game card. I don't know why. Maybe Sony though the system wasn't confusing enough? No. It's like a Nintendo DS card, but you need to a proprietary memory card to save anything.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
My copy of Zero no Kiseki Evolution finally arrived. Not sure if I want to just start it now, or wait until the patch that fixes freezing issues comes out first.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
They do that, too. Any games bought with a PS+ discount will remain yours even after you stop subscribing. You only lose access to the free games (though you can get them back later by re-subscribing).ZellSF wrote: PS+ would've been more tempting if they would discount games to members, not give them away for free on the condition that you NEVER stop subscribing.
This seems like pretty good value for money

Heh, update after all the trouble you went through? I definitely won't update mine until another exploit is found (which may or may not happen). I'd rather purchase another Vita (I'd try to find a cheap used one) if there is a future game release I want to play.ZellSF wrote:Video player... supports closed captioning? Oh it's definitely good value for the money. I just don't like the subscription thing, you own your games even less than you do when you buy digital games.Friendly wrote:They do that, too. Not sure when or if I'll end up updating. And with the next firmware upgrade coming Monday (?) I should probably download any PSN exclusives that are worth it before then. Are there any besides Super Stardust Delta? I'm really not liking how you unlock alternate soundtracks in that game, some sort of social thing? Anyone know how that works?
Re: The PS Vita Thread
No idea.ZellSF wrote: I'm really not liking how you unlock alternate soundtracks in that game, some sort of social thing? Anyone know how that works?
I have bought The Pinball Arcade and a couple of tables; it's the best portable pinball emulator that currently exists. (It's also cross-buy, meaning if you buy it for Vita and use the same PSN account on your PS3, you can download the PS3 version for free). Other than that, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is a neat platformer (no demo, unfotunately); bought it a few days ago. Then there is Sound Shapes, which got pretty good reviews (haven't played it myself, no demo either; supposedly not a very long game) and Puddle (demo available; so you can give it a try).ZellSF wrote: Not sure when or if I'll end up updating. Incredible, how can there be load times like that for games sold on a card?!
BTW, rumor has it that it was developed in less than 5 months.

When it was a hackjob done in 5 months using unoptimised ported assets from more powerful hardware. I don't blame the devs, they probably did is well as they could.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
The sad thing is that this will probably sell rather well anyway.

Sony presumably paid a pretty penny for it, too.
I really don't get why they don't just send over a few million to Capcom for a new Monster Hunter game, if that's what everybody wants.
What have they got to lose?

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Probably arrogance and screwed up priorities. It looks like at some point someone at Sony decided that Japan was not important and that paying for shitty spin-offs of already shitty console shooters in a desperate attempt to get Western audiences on board was a much better investment than throwing some cash at Capcom to ensure your system wouldn`t be left without a MonHun game.Friendly wrote:I really don't get why they don't just send over a few million to Capcom for a new Monster Hunter game, if that's what everybody wants.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
If Sony paid money for it it was up to them to ensure a decent job was done with it - Nihilistic were answering to Sony, not Activision, who I am pretty sure stayed out of it.Friendly wrote:The sad thing is that this will probably sell rather well anyway.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Sony wasn't involved in the development at all, quality assurance was definitely Activision's job. Maybe Sony could have / should have prevented the release of the game in its current state, though.
Anyway, Black Friday bundles:

On twitter, Nihilistic was basically deflecting all criticism toward Sony, insisting their hands were tied. Activision just didn't give a shit, basically just leased the IP to them temporarily.Friendly wrote:Sony wasn't involved in the development at all, quality assurance was definitely Activision's job. Playing the WipeOut HD campaign. Goddamn its good. Shame about the frame rate hit, but we're talking about a portable version of my favourite racer this gen, pretty astonishing really. May have to shell out for the Fury content, anyone know how many extra courses there are?
