This has to be the first console launch that truly doesn't excite me.
I've tried the demo units and came away completely underwhelmed.
No thanks Nintendo.

This just in: ZombiU is getting mixed review scores.

I liked Gamespot's review bitching and moaning about how a survival-horror game doesn't have enough action in it. Not that I'm interested in ZombiU (I'm not), but come on, you dorito-munching putz.

Same here. And by the time it comes out, the other games I want should be cheaper too.Jonathan Ingram wrote:I`ll be getting one in March for this game:

I feel exactly the same way. This is one of the weakest launches ever, both from a hardware and software perspective.SuperGrafx wrote:This has to be the first console launch that truly doesn't excite me.

I have little doubt that it will be successful, get a good share of must-own games and I don't even doubt that I'll eventually own one, but for now it leaves me completely cold.
I don't think the problem is me getting older; the launch of Vita earlier this year did excite me, as did the Ouya kickstarter.

So the Vita launch, with its ton of recycled bullshit excited you? This is really getting boring.

Yes, the promise the hardware held did excite me (high quality portable multimedia entertainment device: games, videos, music, browser, etc). I got exactly what I wanted and I am enjoying it very much. How dare I!Marc wrote:So the Vita launch, with its ton of recycled bullshit excited you? This is really getting boring.
I still waited for 7 months to buy one (until there was a large enough library to make it worthwhile for me). Unlike you, who bought one long before me despite being of the opinion that there was only recycled bullshit.

I agree it's really uninspiring, and i think it will reflect in sales (esp immediately post-launch), but there is a short list of games for next year that looks pretty good for a young console so at least its short-term future is promising. I won't be considering getting one until two or three years down the line though. I also think there's a lot this thing can do that they haven't really shown us yet. For instance, I think the screen is going to be used as a pseudo-VR device.

I'm glad to hear that Wii accessories will work.
Not too jazzed about the 3 hour battery life on the pro controller though. I very much appreciated the standard AA batteries in the Wii remote, and it bugs the shit out of me that the PS3 has a built-in battery that has to be plugged in to charge.

I got a charger deck. Charges 2 of my controllers while I use the 3rd to play with.shmuppyLove wrote:I'm glad to hear that Wii accessories will work.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Yeah luckily I have two controllers so I can just swap out the dead one.neorichieb1971 wrote:I got a charger deck. Charges 2 of my controllers while I use the 3rd to play with.
Honestly I wish there was at least an option for a wired controller.
Actually I haven't tried it, can you just get a long USB cable and have it plugged in while playing?

Yes, that works. I am using a USB extension cord.shmuppyLove wrote:Yeah luckily I have two controllers so I can just swap out the dead one.neorichieb1971 wrote:I got a charger deck. Charges 2 of my controllers while I use the 3rd to play with.

1 GB+ day-0 Wii U firmware update incoming. Hope you have a good connection (and a wlan router; Wii U has no ethernet port).
Reminder: The basic version has only got 8 GB of internal storage space.

Space used by the OS on both models.
If this is right, then you can almost forget about storing games on the basic model.
Apparently the update takes 1-2 hours.

Also: First reports of bricked Wii Us by stupid people who unplugged them during the uodate because they thought their console was frozen.

So anyway, how are the games?
Re: Wii U ( WiiU ) US Relase: November 18, 2012. EU/JP: Nov
First reports are positive, though every single game requires an update when you first play it, even Nintendoland. Gamepad screen supposedly looks nice and streaming works without any compression artefacts.
Funny: The pad of someone on Neogaf put itself into debug mode when he turned it on.

Wii U - it hacks itself on day 1.

You might want to try that one again mate. Bought mine in June - five months ago - from a member of this very forum. Who incidentally I owe feedback to for a fantastic trade. Now go away Sony PR and tie these threads up into one easily perused waste that we can all avoid.Friendly wrote:Yes, the promise the hardware held did excite me (high quality portable multimedia entertainment device: games, videos, music, browser, etc). So you are now part of the poop troupe that likes to derail threads with off-topic crap? Kindly go away and stop trolling.

Back on topic:
On the whole, there seem to be lots of things not in place yet, or not very well thought trough. The launch of Wii U feels rushed. Looks like Nintendo wanted to release it as quickly as possible in order not to miss the holiday sales, even though they could really have used a few more weeks of preperation. The launch software lineup consists almost completely of multiplat titles. Are there really only two exclusives (Zombi U and Super Mario U)? Not even Pikmin 3 is ready. What have Nintendo's game developers been doing for the past 2 years??

Thanks to Nintendo's incompetence we now know that Yoshi's Land Wii U is coming.

This launch sounds like a real clusterfuck.
Friendly, what am I looking at there? Just looks like a random list of games.

I can only hope for a new Metroid title.
Don't play with me, Nintendo. I can't stand to be hurt again.
