Yeah -- totally fucked up, too! I wonder if the full version will ever get released.xbl0x180 wrote:Chris Isaak was on the movie version, Fire Walk With Me, so I knew I HAD to see it... totally wicked movie

I watched both seasons of Game of Thrones, great stuff with some excellent acting and high production values. The urgent need to show people fucking for at least a couple of minutes every single episode was slightly annoying, but overall I enjoyed it a lot.

Re: TV you've just watched
Pretty sure it's done next Summer. It really does raise the bar. I'm hoping something at least tries to get there.
I just finished the season, and series, of Weeds.
SPOILERS?
Reading some feedback, it seems some pussies are not happy w/ the series finale at all. Dunno..the format of the show from season 4 on showed that it couldn't be caged, and the finale was no different. I thought it was well written, and well executed. I thought the end scene was class, and actually a bit of something different for the show. It's not something I would rewatch, but I'm glad I stuck with it, even when it went WAY out into left field.

Dude, those shows are just fucked up. The Nightline special (the first one) was just sick. These guys give the internet a bad name.

Walking Dead....so stoked this is back on, but I HATE having to wait week to week!
So far seems off to a good start, excited to see where they take it from here.

Watched the first ep last night. So far it looks like the show is off to a far better start than last seasons train wreck. Still holding my judgement until I see more, but things are certainly looking up. Poor Hershel.jonny5 wrote:Walking Dead....so stoked this is back on, but I HATE having to wait week to week!

That, coupled with the new download laws here (or at least until someone else tests the waters) are making me just wait until it's over and marathoning it. Same w/ some other shows that aren't immediately available on streams.jonny5 wrote:Walking Dead....so stoked this is back on, but I HATE having to wait week to week!

It was, but the first half dragged a bit, and then kicked into high gear after the break.Last season was awesome! What you been smoking?

Re: TV you've just watched
Even after the break shit dragged for a bit. Shane in particular was so cartoonishly evil that it made the second half hard to watch. Then there was all that dicking around with the wounded guy and like 3 episodes of just pissing about. Honestly were it not for the final episode of the season I doubt I'd even be watching this one.GaijinPunch wrote:It was, but the first half dragged a bit, and then kicked into high gear after the break.Last season was awesome! Yeah, cockifying Shane took a while. I will give you that. I think this new law is all for the better for me anyway. I have Hulu and TV.com and I still don't have time to stay on top of everything.

I read the Walking Dead pretty avidly a few years back, until I hit the then-latest issue and drifted away. Will have to check out the show, the clips I've seen bring back some good memories of the comic.

I don't know, I felt like they used the season to help develop characters more. If you have read the comic, the character development is an important element, so I am glad they are taking the time to flesh everybody out in the show as well. Sure it may not be action packed every episode, and not even necessarily lots of zombies all the time, but that was what drew me to the comic, it's about the characters, not so much the zombies.njiska wrote:Even after the break shit dragged for a bit. Re: TV you've just watched
I've read through at least the arc at the farm, if not a little of the prison. It's been a while so I don't recall where I left off. I get that the Walking Dead is about the characters, not the zombies and that's why I like it, but I felt that the pace of the second season is what killed it. It took too long to develop the characters and what could have been done in a single episode was often dragged out over 3-4 making it feel less refined and more boring. Did we really need three episodes of debating what to do with that damn kid? Especially when nothing new was introduced and it was just the same argument flying in circles for 90 minutes of screen time. I place a lot of the blame on Shane's character not being killed off sooner as he seemed to be shoehorned into every conflict just to create something from nothing. If the season had only been 6 or 7 episodes it would have been much stronger.jonny5 wrote: I don't know, I felt like they used the season to help develop characters more. And I know you're not much for modern games, but you've got a PS3 so you should really check out Telltale's The Walking Dead game. It's almost entirely about character development and is one of the best written stories an adventure game has ever had. Does a far better job than the series has been.

I personally didn't find the last season too bad, but then I am used to watching some really bad zombie stuff, so perhaps my threshold for that kind of stuff is higher? I felt they did a great job of fleshing out the characters and developing the interactions between the group, and didn't do anything to outright ruin the story arc or anything, so I was happy.
I made the mistake of picking up Dead Island last weekend, it was on sale for like 20bux, hoping for some decent zombie action, and it blows!!! I can't even get past the first exchange with zombies. Please note I am horri-bad at FPS games.
Re: TV you've just watched
Watched the first two episodes of The Walking Dead this season. I was one of those that absolutely hated season 2 (but loved season 1), save for the one where Daryl has his badass spiritual journey.
It looks promising thus far. The cold open in ep 1, which featured no dialogue whatsoever, struck me as spot-on criticism of the previous season. In ep 2, yeah there were still a couple of those annoying hushed conversations that add absolutely nothing to the plot, char dev'ment, or entertainment value, but they were backed up with some fantastically morally-ambivalent scenes. And Rick's wife finally gets the silent treatment she deserves.
I would also kill several people to be Maggie's beau. Good lord.

Re: TV you've just watched
Oh man, the Neo-Geo.com forums' flagship soap opera just had its season premiere. This stuff is even better than To Catch A Pedo.
I finished OZ recently. Was curious, as I remembered it being the first really big HBO primetime drama back in the 90s, predating The Sopranos (and starring a few of its key actors plus The Wire's). I was too young to have much interest in it beyond "LOL HE POOP IN HE MOUT" (fine scene by the way). First 4.5 seasons were generally excellent. It's obviously not a "realistic" prison drama but artistic license allowed, its atmosphere is consistently discomforting and occasionally horrifying. Tobias Beecher's character development was magnetic, and it does a fine job of creating a memorable, diverse rogues' gallery with good interplay of the inmates' and staff's travails. Kareem Said, Simon Adebisi, Chris Keller, Vern Schillinger, Miguel Alvarez and Ryan O'Reilly - all great characters amongst many smaller but memorable faces. Only thing I disliked was the crazy murderer guy with Sister Peter-Marie, fucking irritating actor. Wanted to strangle his scrawny chicken neck with my dick then drop my balls on his skull shattering it like a lightbulb.
Should've ended after season 4.5's bracing finale as from there it's a slide into rehashing old angles, tedious and anticlimactic plotlines, shitty oversold new characters replacing vastly superior old ones, and ridiculous stories involving turbo aging pills, psychotic nurses, disappearing holy men, an Aryan Brother getting a black man's gums and an EVIL CONSPIRACY AT THE TOP. All ends in a sad, dry, airy fart of a non-conclusion. If in the mood watch up to 4.5, can't recommend the rest outside of curiosity. A "good, better, HOLY FUCK THIS IS GREAT" season progression ala THE SHIELD this ain't.

Took GaijinPunch's advice and started watching Eastbound and Down. Haven't regretted a minute of it.
And did you know that if you know anyone with HBO, they can give you access to HBOGo? You don't even need thier main email account passoword, a sub-account will work. Also, the Xbox 360 has this app for easy TV viewing.

Oz was HBO's first original series. The body count far outweighs anything else they've done, including the Sopranos.
I'm using my parents HBO account. PRoblem is, it doesn't work with unblock-us or any of the DNS-trick services. It doesn't work through VPN, although I rarely get "good" quality. At night, never.

Watched the first 4 episodes of season 2 of Falling Skies. I have such a love/hate relationship with TV. It always falls short of what I want while doing just enough to keep me watching. So many opportunities for this series to be great, but totally ignored. So many opportunities for this series to be complete dogshit, successfully dodged. TV I hate you!

Re: TV you've just watched
Wow, tonight's episode of Dexter was unusually good. Not the the show isn't usually a solid, expecially this season, but this episode in particular was just something special. The main reason being two incredibly well written dialog scenes. One between Dexter and Isaak and one between Dexter and Deb. Most were very emotional, personal and just a real treat to watch. The rest of the episode was quite enjoyable as well.

Yeah, this season has been pretty good, though I hoped it would have a more primary focus on Dexter and Deb - between Isaac and Hannah, I feel like the show has already moved past the reveal which was the big part of what I was excited for. It's nice to see the kids again, though - I always felt that they missed a great opportunity by shipping them off right after Rita died.
That said, LaGuerta's side story is picking up steam and I'm psyched about that - especially to see how it will play out for Deb.

Re: TV you've just watched
Started watching the Walking Dead series because a friend loaned it to me. Episode 3 and 4 are starting to show a general decline (albeit slight.) I really hate television, and the format slips so easily into go no-where BS. I read that huge phone-book collection of Walking Dead and it was OK. I remember someone telling me the series isn't as good. Well, I'll give it a few more episodes anyway.
