You are right, that's pretty sad.

Yeah, MS doesn't exactly have a solid stable of 1st party characters, either. I think the reason Smash Bros. works so well is that they all come from family-friendly games. Kratos works just fine in Mortal Kombat, but a SSMB clone? Not so much.

There were a couple other non-Nintendo characters, but not many.

Snake
Sonic

And to some degree you could say Lucas & Ness from EarthBound and Marth & Roy from Fire Emblem, even though APE/Creatures, HAL and Intelligent Design are basically 1st party studios, most people wouldn't associate them as "Nintendo" per se. Although Kirby for sure, who was originally from HAL, so it's not necessarily just the studio I guess.

This thread is making me want to fire up Melee again ... even though every time I do I get that "meh" feeling.

I don't even remember his name. He dies in the second or third chapter. They basically made a guy to kill him off.

For some reason, he wasn't black.

I dont know it looks okay for a smash bros type of game my biggest gripe would be balance of the characters abilities, in the video they mention sly cooper not being able to block but turn invisible and sneek up to attack and also parappa's level 3 super being able to kill everyone on screen if they get the balance right it should be a fun game to play with some friends on a Friday night.

There's a beta for some Playstation Plus members now, and those who got to play it seem to be loving the game.

It has gone gold; in stores one week from today. Attract trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxTYkuSIjk4

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is also part of the cross-buy program; if you buy it for PS3 you get the PS Vita version for free.

I hope it flops just so Sony doesn't get any more funny ideas like this.

Though the fanboys will probably buy it and play it while foaming at the mouth. "BEST THING EVAR, TROLOLOLOLOL"

Those who have actually played it say it's fun, so who knows- maybe it didn't turn out terrible after all. We'll find out in 4 days.

As much as it just looks like Sony saying "hay gais, let's cash in on smash bros!" they actually have some legit guys behind the play mechanics, so it's not just sales pukes dictating things.

I've heard it's going to have a competitive mode. Still doubt it's going to be any good. Just getting high level players to test it for a few weeks won't guarantee anything.

IMO that attract trailer is setting the wrong tone for the game. The atmosphere for it is too intense, as if it taking itself too seriously.

Kat (Gravity Rush) and Emmett Graves (Starhawk) confirmed as DLC - apparently if you DL them soon after they come out you can get them for free, but will have to pay if you wait.

Sticking the Starhawk guy in this is just a baffling choice, but they did good to put Kat in.
