Preorder KETSUI DVD SET and Viper Phase 1 DVD SET now!

Post by umi »

Both of these are up for preorder from Cocoebiz (bless her petite little Japanese soul...). Sweet deals too, as they both come with a CD (2 in the case of VP1)! I just spent around $350 US, on these two and the Legend of game music #2 platinum set :P Oh well, it's been a while since anything shmuppy was released (but there's some great old school game music that is up for preorder, like bomberman and gunstar heroes music collections... l33t).

KETSUI DVD/CD set (you KNOW you want it...)

Viper Phase 1 DVD/CD set

Pre-order now... saves you begging later (unless you're into that).

You didn't really say why we should pre order these...

Ketsui's too expensive and I'm not into viper phase.

There's replays of these you can get for legally free, too. Ketsui at least.

If there is even.... Just a thread of hope.... That circumstances change, and Mihara re-considers a Ketsui port to the PS2. I'd probably be satisfied, even if no other cave game got a PS2 release.

The DVD sets also include an OST CD as well as an artbook/play guide. For some folks, that's plenty.

As for the price-point of the DVDs... Japanese DVDs normally sell for around the $50 mark, so $80 for a DVD/CD/Book combo really isn't a surprise.

I think we have more chance of seeing Ibara get ported to PS2 than Ketsui. Mihara seems to be transfixed over including this special practice mode with Ketsui that the PS2 just can't handle.

I think ketsui is deffinitly one of caves best , very hard but very rewarding , also excellent music and a nice easy score system

i think $80.00 is worth it because of the extra book and OST

Nothing.

He spent the money on several discs that contain MPEG2s.

Oh this is just sooo unlucky!

I don't wanna sound like a little kid crying for a new toy, but man.... Ketsui is just the one. The PS2 would own for sure with this game added to the list. Even a straight arcade port with no extras will do me just fine.

I can't think of any other arcade ports, that I'd look forward to more than Ketsui...... Maybe Progear, though I haven't played it yet so I wouldn't know, but that's it.

The problem is, you're one of a handful who feel that a straight port (no bells & whistles) would be perfect. Most people (including many of the members here) look for additional content on a home-port. Mihara himself stated he (read: Arika) could port the game over straight to the PS2 but that it wouldn't sell since most gamers wouldn't bother (they could avoid dropping 6000+ Yen on a less-than-perfect homeport and just continue to walk down the block to a local arcade).

When it comes to gaijin-gamers, I think only the real small dev-cos take importing into account (Fujino of Triangle Service seemed very happy that there was international interest in the Japanese DC release of Trizeal). Therefore I doubt Cave or Arika are thinking of anything other than the local market when they consider releasing a home-port.

I understand what you're saying man. Don't get me wrong, I too prefer to see extras on home console ports. It's just with Ketsui, I don't mind either way, since I'd be happy to have it (extras or no extras), rather than not at all.

Of course, there's no point releasing a bare bones port of a game if it's not gonna sell.
Oh well I might get over it, eventually.

I don't give a monkeys about extras. A near perfect or even just good PS2 port of Ketsui for $60? Considering the crazy shit that's been going on with the price of the PCB I fail to see how anyone could complain about a direct port of the arcade game without any extras for $60.
The way things are going I don't see myself being able to play this game for a long time :(

The people in Japan can complain, because instead of paying $60 they walk down to the Arcade instead (which is a better experience). Straight Arcade port means no practice mode, no high score saving, exc.. These games are released in Japan remember.

If you want it bad enough...you buy the PCB. You could dedicate time to it and easily get your moneys worth. SYO has probably been playing the game for almost 2 years now.
