Sales tax is the devil. Fucks the poor up the ass, taxes those that don't vote. Screw that.

Personally I don't believe taxing the rich is going to fix the Cali education system anytime soon. From people that I know who went to schools in Cali the whole system is broken. Personally for me putting more money to the problem isn't going to solve anything.

It's easier to guilt people to vote for things when it is "for the children."

And don't worry antron, even when we disagree I will always have a mancrush on you.

yeah, I was basically acknowledging that. you should have seen the commercials. and boy did they have their get out the vote campaing going. you could not avoid their calls, they never gave up! they even called at 6:00 election day, to make sure I voted.

The system used to be great, from what I understand. Everyone got to go to college too. That must have taken money, so where did it come from? Higher effective corporate tax rate I've heard.

personally I wish they would just cut out the loopholes that the corporations are using. looking at you Apple, Oracle, etc... How can California let Apple route all its profits through an office in Nevada with like 10 people in it.

Sales tax is it's own evil, but income tax should be flat. Qwells all the whining and puts everyone in the same playfield. "But then what will become of all the IRS workers who's jobs are to wade through all the convoluted rules and loopholes?"

it's asshats like this that I was thinking of when Domino mentioned what is happening at his company. this article does not mention it, but those workers were forced to take the day "off" without pay and stand up there.

It's like the GOP media critters hate everyone not white, everyone not male, everyone under 40, and everyone that's gay. It's just an incredible amount of shit. The equivalent would be if "the liberal media" kept saying "stupid inbred rednecks" 24/7.

It wasn't five seconds before he lost when Bill'o started calling minorities a bunch of moochers. After that, yeah, I know I want free stuff now. Preferably transferred directly out of Bill O'Reilly's bank account into mine.

I really don't know if they could adjust if they wanted to. The DEM would have to start advocating death camps or pedophilia or something to turn off people the GOP have trashed as less than human.

Oh and to round out the GIFs, alternate outcome cartoon.

Oh, and it was beyond sad that Romney's people thought he was going to win. ffs, it takes two seconds to check your RCP score. What kind of idiot doesn't check their RCP score?

My job isn't doing something like that. They are just advising because of the administration and the heath care law all our health insurance rates are going up.

It's like they just want to piss Latinos off even more. Who's side is O'Reilly really on? And haven't you heard? This is also the fault of single women (sluts). They just want more abortions. If you can stomach this, watch up until (1:20) this stupid bitch claims that married women don't think that much about contraception:

Sorry, I was actually just trying to explain my logic in the guesses I made about your company's motivations, that turned out to be inaccurate. It was because some companies were just being political.

And Obamacare is affecting me in seemingly negative ways as well. I am in healthcare, and today they announced that many of our services will be receiving a 7% reduction in medicare reimbursement. The budget has been frozen. Time to trim the fat.

added:
not really, in 2014 enrollment may go up 20% because of the coverage mandate. that should be more than enough to make up for the government trimming its waste

I've never quite understood why austerity measures and cuts in services aimed at the lower and middle classes, even when they save barely anything (see the constant PBS malarkey, for starters), are ballyhooed as worth their weight in gold because they give the rich "confidence" in the solidity of the economy at large and make them hand out jobs and the resulting revenue like candy (still waiting, by the way), while asking for anything at all from the upper classes, despite the fact that the nation has historically been at its most productive and secure when they've contributed the most, is never even suggested as a part of the solution.

EDIT: There are so many possible replacements for my current sig in this thread and its links, I just don't know where to begin.

Nah, there is more than enough money spent in the California education system. It is just being wasted on one end to pay off the exorbitant admin salaries and on the other to pay off the education of millions of illegal aliens and/or the children of illegal aliens. All you have to look at are the disastrous stats of schools that are predominantly made up of illegals. It's why I voted against Prop 30 (in California). There should be no more taxes levied to pay for schools. There should be school reform first: get rid of the waste from top to bottom.

Those illegal aliens' parents pay California income and sales tax, so their immigration status (which is none of the state's business) is quite irrelevant.

It's a fact schools made up of illegal aliens are the absolute worst in California, so to throw more money at this problem isn't going to solve it. Hence, their legal status is very much the state's business.

Alabama tried it, and lost in court. So from a legal standpoint you are simply wrong:
http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/17/us/alabam ... index.html
The blocked parts of the Alabama law include language that made it a crime for undocumented immigrants to work or solicit work; imposed criminal penalties to hide "an alien" or rent property to anyone in the United States illegally; and required state officials to check the immigration status of children in public schools.
And from a moral standpoint, I think your assertion that because they don't do as well they should have a public service that they paid into taken away from them speaks for itself.

Only a matter of time before a group of nutty repubs decide to "GO GALT". I think one of the right wing radio pundits was already advocating it. Would be hilarious to see.

Not if it means breaking laws. It's not morally right to tell one group of people they have to abide by the law and others to ignore them.
