I've been playing STGs for about 2 years now, and I only just recently got my first 1CC. So don't feel intimidated!

I had to scream (into a pillow so my neighbors wouldn't think I was crazy) after beating the stage 5 boss. Felt like my toughest clear yet.

Damn, nice job! When I owned the pcb I found it so hard to practice st4 and 5 effectively. Almost always died at the st4 boss. Looking forward to the port for stage/boss practice mode...

Thanks. There was a long period of time where it felt impossible and that I wasn't making any progress. If it wasn't that I've cleared almost every other Cave game I probably would have given up. Or if I was paying per play I definitely would have. But after a while I finally started to see little improvements. I came up with a run that is probably the easiest way to clear it that I'll upload to my YT channel but it's still hard as all bloody hell. But I for sure mastered control of the rank and a lot of other little secrets like the 1UP from the stage 4 midboss, you always head into him with no bombs in stock then even if you get hit once and die you will still get a 1UP with 3 bombs. He can kill you and you can use hyper but a bomb stops it from releasing, as you know.

Some random pictures.

Nice! I'm no expert on PCB tools, are the screenshots taken off a recording device hooked to the video cables?

Yes you just run a splitter on the audio and video signals to have them go to a supergun or cab at the same time as a computer recording device.

Just wanted to say congrats, Muchi Muchi Spork, and thank you for uploading it to youtube! This is by far one of the highest audio + video quality SaiDaiOuJou gameplay videos out there as of now!

Hey. Gonna make a post about something that's not a clear in this thread. It's just a practice run. One that i've been wanting to pull off since 2010.

I'm talking about a No-miss, no-bombs run of Stage 6 in Touhou 12 - Undefined Fantastic Object on Lunatic mode.
This was more difficult to pull off than most 1cc's I've ever done. Then again, all i've done is Touhou Lunatic clears and Mushi Futari + some 1-alls and none of those can be considered hard so whatever.

Watch it here if you're so inclined: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJaMbGVLeAo

Loss of nerve control... I'm not sure how to describe the difficulty, it is like Cave is assuming the player has played (to great extent) most of their past games before now, and built that high level of skill. I will just say practice the other games all you can before the console release. That or accept Novice mode or soul crush, I don't know, but I found it insane for a base level, it's more like a particularly rough maniac mode. For whatever reason some Japanese players had no problem clearing it in a day, that still surprises me.

Japanese players clearing a Cave game in a day? Is that forum talk or real talk (on their behalf)? Just seems improbable that anyone could clear a cave game in a day that wasn't on some ridiculously easy difficulty mode. I cleared Futari Arrange mode in a handful of tries but that isn't exactly an actual clear if you know what I mean. In any case, if some players can do this, I'd love to see some live streaming action of them destroying a bunch of shooters, because that would be very fun to watch.

Also...congrats.

Real talk. You gotta understand, there are people in Japan who are way better than even sikraiken.

I don't know who sikraiken is, but I'm sure he's some good player. Anyway, I'd love to see a shmup meet over there. Probably will never happen realistically, but seems amazing.

The first clear videos of SDOJ showed up on NicoNico 1-2 days after it was released.

When i said "probably would never happen realistically," I was definitely referring to me going to a shmup meet in Japan and not referring to someone having the ability to clear a Cave game in little time. Anyway, what is NicoNico and how do I watch this stuff?

I was replying to your post before that one, I get tired of editing the quotes stuff. Anyway it's a Japanese YouTube basically. An example url:

http://www.nicozon.net/tag/STG

After you sign up and login you can view videos and you will want to search in machine translated text I guess.

A day is still enough time to credit feed through many games like 50 times or so. More than likely you're gonna use less credits per game as the day goes on...

And more than likely you will still be light years away from getting a 1CC too. I don't understand your point.

Credit feed all you want, this game is going to cause worldwide trouserplanking and perm Novice Mode on a scale never seen before. And the Nico quickness will be insult to injury just like the giant hit box.

Not talking about SDOJ which I've never played but just in general. No point but just to put some perspective into it. If you can clear a game with 10 credits on your first try, maybe it's not so impossible to think you might clear it with 1 after 50 tries, maybe the Japanese one day Cave game clearers aren't superhuman after all... :D

It doesn't take that many credits for a lot of these guys, especially with 1CC-friendly games like DFK, Deathsmiles, or Akai Katana. If I can clear those titles within my first few tries, these top players probably do it on their first credit.

SDOJ is at least tough even for just a cheesy clear, which is nice for people who have that as their main goal with these games. I beat SDOJ in the arcades a week after it came out after playing about 3 to 4 credits a day. I'd put it at around Ketsui 1-loop difficulty.

Considering several people who post here have done that with some of the easy/moderate Cave arcade games, I would find it really odd if there were not many Japanese players able to do that.
