Check out the sparks in bullet time, and ive bound all the gems and your ship to layout ...so no disappearing. Yeah, shouldnt be hard to make a 8 bit o.tt. home computer type h.u.d around the game with treasure chests spilling over and stuff.:) should look insane when im done..thanks for the help. I shouldnt realy show things till there ready , but this way ive had alot of guidance so , yeah.

much improved with new alien soundtrack from hell, someone wanna try get a good score?
, theres a way out of every situation (no randomness as well). That slow motion and big bullet realy throws a curve ball though, beware.


2685 is my highest , gets realy tense toward the end, but remember you can go as fast as you can move that mouse

Anyway, 3415

Final 10 seconds had nothing happening.

Can you make the player ship explode when it gets hit? Sometimes there's flashes (like after the hyper/slowmo thingy) that I mistake for dying, then I look at my lives and see I haven't taken a hit.

yeah, getting round to ship exploding (may have it explode then a new ship race into the action from off the screen),do you like the new "rainbow takes out the bullets "mechanic ? its to make it easier to play on a touch screen phone. Im planning on having the rainbow only activate within that height of the pink bar...so the harder you work the more bullets you can hit for points.

Next stage is ditching the whole pirate thing and having giraffes heads sticking out an ark :P batshit crazy
Once i finaly nailed all that, and its solid .It will be new levels and bosses.

btw well done on your game :) when i get xbox live back ill be getting that .

It's getting more and more solid the more you put in to it. Feeling more like an enjoyable game with each iteration.

I'd say put a delay between dying and the ship coming on. Not too long - but give the ship time to actually die fully before you spawn the next one. Dying is not a pleasant experience in a shmup, it's where thousands of years of collected rage from mankind are felt in a single infinitely small moment - sorrow and despair are felt as the image in your head of that no-miss bonus turns in to a big fat zero and your carefully hoarded bomb stock fades away in to irrelevance...

... slightly dramatic, but you get the idea. You should give your player a moment after dying to go "AWW *FUCK* SAKE" and make a mental decision about restarting by looking at their score and seeing if they can beat their previous highest.

I actually really do like the 'nyan cat' bullet cancelling thing. Unlike certain games where you can activate your special ability then sit back and cancel bullets - your system actually forces the player to go towards the dangerous side of the screen in order to cancel the bullets.

I didn't notice, but when cancelling the bullets - do I get points for that? You might want to try and make that a touch more obvious. You know the classic "100" that rises up and fades out from a destroyed enemy etc etc. That'd be a nice touch and would make the scoring mechanics more obvious to anyone playing.

you need to release that game and go on holiday :P

i just did my noahs ark sprite complete with doves, gun loading monkey and a giraffe. its mental. I gave the ark i smaller hit box thats very visible (thats unusually made the game harder??)

update!
there is now a level 2 after the counter counts down you enter a cave :) things getting alot tighter now design wise

Got 4725 playing just now.

Really liking how it's shaping up so far, but I think the story at the beginning could fit in better if you made the cutscenes look a bit more consistent with the in-game graphics. :)

Just got 7015 :)

im having a break and learning some new things i can stick in stuff like money bursting out of the bullets ..ect..got a bit bored tbh.

First scenes meant to be Noah praying on a mountain of empty wine bottles :P (being the first guy in biblical history to get so drunk he got naked)..might be too low res.

hope you got to the next backdrop :) i was having a raging argument with my wife while drawing that cave, theres pain in that art:P

i might migrate it all over to another engine (dx9 based) as html5 games are a bit crippled by the browsers potential..for instance this is only realy the way its meant to be in Chrome with web gl.
