Ron Paul would destroy the US economy if he were to apply his economic theories in the state the world is in.

Nope. It's not a boss, it's a whole big company doing more with less because of more regulation coming in that will affect them. We just got our insurance info for 2013 and the first thing it said is because of the new healthcare law we have to increase our rates for 2013. The good news is that my job pay for 75% or the heath care cost for us and will continue to do so.
Re: A friendly reminder: Please vote.
We have true universal healthcare in Mass thanks to Romney. Obamacare is a half measure. :p
Re: A friendly reminder: Please vote.
75% is the rate they been covering for years. You would like this company, they are very Pro-GLBT. Plenty of great benefits for Same-Sex couples and very liberal on its culture and beliefs.antron wrote:or, your CEO. are you happy or mad? did the ACA (Obamacare) force them to cover that rate?

Remember folks that the Repubs still have the house. Obama still can't do everything that he wants.
I think the biggest problem that people don't realize that we have THREE branches of government. Obama is only one third of the puzzle. It's not like he controls every single thing in the country.

I always wish people remember that. No matter who the president is, he doesn't have that much power. Lets hope the government as a whole gets their shit together this time around.Domino wrote:

Yep, we'll see how the Repubs continue to act around the PTOUS.t0yrobo wrote:[I wish people would always remember that. No matter who the president is, he doesn't have that much power. Lets hope the government as a whole gets their shit together this time around.

Weed has been decriminalized in Colorado with amendment 64 and a similar amendment has been passed in Washington.
lol
Re: A friendly reminder: Please vote.
If only we can have something like this in Florida. Weed man, weed....
Re: A friendly reminder: Please vote.
What kind of baffles me is that a bunch of pretty mainstream Republican pundits were basically predicting a landslide for Romney against all evidence to the contrary. It's one thing to say that he can win; it's another to say that he's going to have over 300 EVs (as George Will and Michael Barone did) despite the polls not even remotely supporting that.
Also baffling: the last-minute tabulator software patch in Ohio. All speculation about ill intent aside, any software engineer or IT administrator can tell you that was a staggeringly stupid move.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the terms and the scope of the amendment, it's not decriminalized in Colorado, but actually legalized (i.e. producers and sellers will actually be licensed by the state and it's 100% legal at the state level for people over 21 to possess small amounts for recreational use). Of course, the DEA and the US Congress might have something to say about that.mesh control wrote:Weed has been decriminalized in Colorado with amendment 64 and a similar amendment has been passed in Washington.

We got that in 2004. Towns just ended up setting up stiff fines for possession. If you are caught with it you can still lose Financial Aid and the like on the federal level.

the supreme court justices, appointed for life by the president, interpret the meaning and enforcement of laws and are "supreme". Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a pancreatic cancer survivor of 79 can now retire in peace (or not).
Stephen Breyer is 74
Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia are 76
Re: A friendly reminder: Please vote.
Yay, my prediction was correct. Hope we'll never have to see Romney's mug again (except for maybe when he's on trial for tax evasion or something).
I actually expected him to lose from the moment I first read about him; he was just too obvious a liar/crook.
The thing I don't get is how the Republicans were unable to find someone who was NOT obviously a crook, and/or moron and/or religious zealot among their millions of members to run for president. It's rather sad when you think about it.

That one made no sense at all. Romney was more of a slimy blob, changing its form as needed. The gif should have shown the end of the T-1000 (the shape changing robot made out of liquid metal from Terminator 2).antron wrote:

That alone was enough to ensure Romney's defeat. Who in their right mind would choose a moronic zealot wishing for insanity like that as his running mate? This is the year 2012, not 1512.system11 wrote: Although on the upside, women (and by extension men) will not be forced on threat of a murder charge, to add more unwanted children to the overgrown population.
Really, it's like the Republicans want to keep losing. It's like someone behind the scenes who is secretly pulling the strings is having a laugh by selecting the most ridiculous candidates possible for each election. After all, if not for the screw-up in Floridy, Bush jr would never have been president, either.

Actually it doesn't matter because one of my main rules is that people are stupid. I swear the most stupid you are the most you are going to make kids. Regardless if abortion is available or not I really don't think it will change much.system11 wrote:Although on the upside, women (and by extension men) will not be forced on threat of a murder charge, to add more unwanted children to the overgrown population.

Two: Knocking someone up has nothing to do with intelligence... sometimes the pussy is SO good you just don't get your dick out in time. Trust me, been there. And, knock on wood... nothing unwanted has happened. Also, condoms break. Now, if you're in your late 30's, single, w/ a few kids you can't take care of, and don't get some type of permanent birth control measure? Yeah, I'll give you that. That's pretty stupid. But that's all I'm giving you.

I staunchly believe in free choice but I can at least respect the rationale behind the hardline pro-life ideal where a baby's life must be protected unless the mother's life is in danger. It never made sense to me that most pro-life folks are willing to allow abortions in cases of rape or incest. If life is so sacrosanct, then how is the life of an innocent baby born of tragic circumstances of no value compared to the life of an innocent baby born to consenting parents?
As for the main reason behind Romney's loss, I don't have the facts but I would point to long-lasting resonance from Bush 43's poor stewardship that got us to the dire straits where we are today. Regardless of how much power Bush actually had (quite a bit on certain matters), I think many non-Republicans are wary of having another Republican President involve us in needless foreign affairs and let the reins loosen on banks.
It's a shame though; I wanted to see what exactly Romney intended to do. Looks like that secret will remain so for better or for worse. I also wish the GOP controlled the Senate instead of the House; that would likely allow for a bit more future compromise.

Re: A friendly reminder: Please vote.
No, the administration stretches much further than just Obama's ability to approve or veto bills. Most importantly, Obama has created all these "czars" to circumvent the normal legislative process. Bush Sr. had created the role of a "drug czar" to act as an adviser on drugs, like the surgeon general is to health. However, Obama has created all of these other various czars to drive American policy, not the elected legislators. For this reason, he should be impeached.Domino wrote:I think the biggest problem that people don't realize that we have THREE branches of government. Obama is only one third of the puzzle. But, the American people have spoken. And so have convicted felons, illegal immigrants, Disney characters, and dead people, for sure.
