Tate... and what's the other one? Yoko?
One thing, where did those terms come from in the first place?
Other thing, how do I set my television or monitor up to do them? Dad says it isn't a good idea... would it really wreak havoc? And how can I tell which would support it and which wouldn't?

Whatever you do, do NOT turn over someone else's TV. There is alomost never any havoc wreaked as result of rotating your TV. But in the rare case that it might happen, how would you feel permanently fucking up someone else's TV?
If you're dad doesn't want you turning the family TV set (smart man) I suggest that you go buy a cheepie at a pawn shop. Then do with it whatever you want.

Tate (read: tah-tay) and Yoko (read: yoh-koh) are Japanese. Tate means tall (vertical). Yoko means wide (horizontal).ScrambledValkyrie wrote:Tate... and what's the other one? Yoko?

Have a look at the pictures of Mission Control on my web site. You can see two tellies, one vert and one hori.
Buy two tellies and keep them fixed in either position. Don't buy one and keep turning it.
That's my advice anyway.
As for maing it work...
Most console shmups will have an option that you select. Not all games have all options but most have some form of tate.
With supergun the game does not give you the option, you literally have to plug the supergun into whichever TV you need for the game.
Hope that helps,
Cheers
