Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
Just thought I'd let folks know.. I got the japanese retail disc Monday and it is in english. I can confirm this first hand. I imagine it's relative to your system language settings, I have a Japanese PS3.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Woah, that's pretty awesome, multi-language is always a neat feature.Strider77 wrote:Just thought I'd let folks know.. I got the japanese retail disc Monday and it is in english. I can confirm this first hand. I imagine it's relative to your system language settings, I have a Japanese PS3.

Capcom game = no buy.

Might wanna throw PS3 in the thread title, just for some context. Not everyone keeps their ear to the ground on which system the latest Okami remake is coming to

Not just Clover. If Gregory Horror Show comes out in the US, what more can you ask for? P.N.03 port mayhaps.

Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
I`ve played Okami only once, but that one playthrough was more than 85 hours long. I did everything there was to do in this game, more or less(including collecting all the beads, fighting through all the demon`s gates etc.). Amazing game, but I`m not planning to replay it anytime soon. So, no buy. I still have my PS2 copy anyway.

Yeah, he should. Then again, he never corrected title of the Lucasfilm topic, either (it still says "Lucasfilms").undamned wrote:Might wanna throw PS3 in the thread title, just for some context. Not everyone keeps their ear to the ground on which system the latest Okami remake is coming to

No, it's fair criticism. Death of Mega Man + RE6 + Some other shit they've been up to = fair reason to dislike Capcom at the moment. Same sort of reasons for my current hatred of Konami. The companies need to realign their focus. That said, I'm all for Okami HD.Strider77 wrote:Capcom hating = hipster trend.... yawn.

HD, meh.
At least they released an arranged CD with this.

Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
That's all in the eye of the beholder.... I like RE 6... alot. I don't think alot invested in the extra things you can do gameplay wise, especially the quick shot... it is HIGHLY useful. Things like hoping on your back are incredibly useful. On you back you can plant bombs and roll away then detonate, you can do the same during a slide. Some of the guns have alt. firing modes like Leons dual pistols and Ada's regular or explosive arrows I really enjoyed it.... more on the second play through also. had a firmer grasp of all my options. No, it's fair criticism. Death of Mega Man + RE6 + Some other shit they've been up to = fair reason to dislike Capcom at the moment.
I really enjoyed Asura's wrath b/c I excepted it for what it was... I enjoyed in the same way I enjoyed Snatcher. Which was far less interactive.
I enjoyed DMC4 even thought I liked 3 more. I really enjoyed Resident Evil 5 also. I also like SF4 and MvC3. To each their own.
Are you kidding... it does look better (come on it's 720 versus 480i, I HATE 480i) and is 16x9 along with an adjustable filter for the paper effect. Not to mention move support that works very well for the game and even if still it's playable with the dual shock. It pretty much has everything you could ask for, even an english option. It's no doubt the best version. Do you own a HD TV?HD, meh
I have it on PS2 also... but it will be-goned soon.

Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
I have to agree with the naysayers. Capcom makes me cry. They were possibly the tip top Japanese developer, last gen...and now they just suck. It's really depressing. Only Platinum makes me feel any better about it. I would be happier if they were still at Capcom though.

I wish people would stop resorting to this kind of response when someone criticizes a game they like. It's okay if you like to play their newer games, but they are mostly mediocre to bad and the hate they get is deserved.Strider77 wrote:That's all in the eye of the beholder....

Please confirm that you indeed got the Japanese version, and not the Asian version. Could you post a picture of the box? For instance, the Japanese version of Demon's Souls had no English, but the Asian version did.
Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
It isn´t region lock for pal consoles, is it?
Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
Among its entire library of currently about 800 games there is only a single region-locked PS3 game: Persona 4 Arena by Atlus. Thank you Atlus, I won't forget it.
By the way, if you have a PS3 with CFW it's very simple to remove the region lock of Persona 4 Arena; you just need to change one number inside the PARAM.SFO file (which in itself is only a 2KB file).

Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
I swear to god it's the Japanese version.. I'm at work now. I'm not new to this, been importing and avoiding the Asian versions since I was in my teens (been importing before there were asin versions). Look it up on the net it's confirmed elseware. It has the Japanese rating on it. Asia has a different looking one. Please confirm that you indeed got the Japanese version, and not the Asian version. Could you post a picture of the box? Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
This is the Asian version:

I have THIS one:

Either way both have English. It must be dependent on your systems language settings. I see no option to change them. I have a Japanese PS3 set to English, and it is in English.

Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
Thank you. So the differences of the cover are the PS Move logo the "Cero A" rating symbol and the placement of Capcom's logo.
Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
Yes.... you can always tell by that rating logo. i am REALLY happy with that disc. All the bases are covered and the port is handled very well. No hiccups etc.

Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
Huh? You want to play Okami in a cab? Maybe you are being sarcastic?
It's in HD and 16x9 with dual shock and move support (the move works really well). It's definitely the best version and looks better for sure. Even if you must have in SD at 4x3 you can... Although I have mo idea why you would want interlaced at 480i... unless you don't have a HD TV.
Absolutely no reason to hate on it. It is the best version. If you are happy with your PS or Wii version fine.
But just saying fuck this port.... there is no reason to unless you are bitter about not having it. I have a PVM and PCBs b/c I want the best version. Same reason I have this version.... just b/c it's not the 1st release means nothing to me. But for the record... I have the PS2 version also, but not for long.

Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
I had three reasons to consider buying a PS3: MGS4, Demon's Souls and 3D Dot Game Heroes. Ōkami makes for the fourth reason now when PS3 is cheaper than PC capable of emulating it in high resolution would be. After all these years, PS3 begins to top 360's desirability slightly...

Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
I can confirm this as well, tested it on both Japanese and American PS3. The disc needs to install though, it doesn't run straight form it. But it does require the disc to be inserted to run.
The only thing I didn0t test yesterday is if it has Prologic II support as the PS2 version did, a shame they didn't go discrete 5.1 with the audio, it shows as pure stereo on my system, but it might be the good old Pro Logic II... I just don't recall seeing the logo.
It runs very smoothly, is real 1080p instead of all those ports at 720p and does have the "heavy" option to give that scroll filter the same looks as in the original PS2 version.

Re: Japanese Okami retail disc in ENGLISH!!
I'm so happy about this discovery I went ahead and placed an order for it on play-asia
And not to long ago I just picked up the PS2 version and was disappointed by its condition when it arrived.
Now I don't care anymore seeing how I'm gonna get me a brand new copy of the remastered version
