My old TV has dead and I am searching for a new one to substitute it.
I have a NEC EA231Wmi monitor for playing games, so the TV function will only be films, sports and series. Maximum size 42"
I have fixed my eyes in this Panasonic TV:"TX-L42DT50E" as it is LED+IPS http://panasonic.net/avc/viera/eu/dt_lcd.html
But sincerely there are thousand models and brands to chose and really big price diferences...My budget is 1000 eur maximum and I will throw it :BluRay and DVD, 720 & 1080p content through PLEX and mainly local TV and series. 3D is not a must as I don't really care.
Recomendations?

Pretty much whatever you want, keeping an eye out for newer panel technology type (IPS for example, instead of TN), refresh rates (especially if you want to view different kinds of material, 240Hz is said to be good for this), and lag is still worth keeping an eye on so you don't get a desynch between the image and sound.

best quality for the money: Panasonic 42" plasma models.
