My Xbox 360 is having disk tray issues (fixable?)
My Xbox 360 is having disk tray issues (fixable?)
Last night my 360's disk tray started having problems. The tray refuses to stay closed. Regardless of if I close it from the console or controller, hori or vertical position it will do this, and re starts do nothing. Is this fixable??

Found lots of info on Google, have you tried anything to fix it yet?Azure wrote:Last night my 360's disk tray started having problems. The tray refuses to stay closed. My disk tray is hilarious, It will only open if the xbox is laying flat
xbox 360 has very poor build quality in general
I doubt you'll lose much from popping it open and taking a look at the inner workings
LOVE THE GAMES! hate the system =[

Does it retract back when you push it to close? If not, there's a possibility the rubber band that rotates one of the gears has broken. Another is the gear mechanism has gone bad.Azure wrote:Last night my 360's disk tray started having problems. The tray refuses to stay closed. i was having a similar problem with my 360, except the tray wouldn't open if there wasn't a game in the drive. the solution turned out to be (hilariously) "hit the side by the bay area while pushing the eject button"

beatsgo: It retracts just fine, just refuses to stay closed><
shmuppyLove: Yeah, I've begun researching it. Seems like lots of people are right, 360's do have lousy build quality. Looks like the retract mechanism is bad. I'll be disassembling (and cleaning) it this weekend in between hurricane recovery tasks. Worst case, I end up getting another drive and swapping the drive PCB over. Despite the QC issues, it seems like these things are fairly easy/straightforward to work with. Still pisses e off, I just got Hokuto Musou, and had planned on getting Akai Katana tomorrow TT____TT
