Hmm, I agree then:

Q. Best Genesis shooter?

A. ALL, minus the awful Divine Sealing.
So let's give the game a chance then and say only ALL, Genesis rules anyway! :D

There's something charming in Curse's visuals anyhow... Perhaps because it reminds me a bit of Menace. Not the best one, but you could've mentioned worse! ^_^

Couldn't tell you, but damned shame ZZ Badnusty didn't make an appearance.

That name gives me the guffaws.

Yeah, that'd be pretty interesting I think. Then again, her JP name was Zelduon, which just sounds dumb and unfeminine without the hilarity factor.

This lifted straight off of my post from the thread -Genesis Shooters-
My favorite Genesis shmup is definitely Gaiares. I'm sure old-timers on the forum have gotten sick of me saying this, as I've been trumpeting Gaiares on here since circa 1997, but to me, it's the best Genny shooter hands down. Lightening Force, MUSHA, Gley Lancer, Eliminate Down, and Thunderforce III are all also great.

You say Sol-Deace, but i'm gonna have to add a point in for the S/Mega CD's version, Sol-Feace... The music upgrade is VERY welcome.

Overall I have the most fun with Thunder Force IV.
Having said that however I have not played all the shooters available on the Genesis. Maybe I'll be pleasantly suprised one day.

Hmmm....

Thunderforce 4 and Eliminate Down were probably the best all round shooters on the Megadrive...TForce3 was more polished than its sucessor but it was too easy.

Hellfire was proper good...I still enjoy that game today. Biohazard Battle was good because it was so original and weird looking.

Gynoug was dull as ditchwater until you got to that amazing pink level near the end. Ditto for Zero Wing.

Gairies was OK.

I remenber having (and completing) Thunderforces 3 & 4 and Gynoug maaaany years ago. Absolutely classic games.

All this recent talk of the Megadrive has spured me into action. I'm off to GameStation to get a MD2. Although I'd much rather an RG-M1 Sega Wondermega, but that's not happening at the mo.

Dude... whack it on hardest and play again. If that doesn't change your mind, fair play to you.

As far as I know changing the difficulty in Gynoug only changes the amount of hits enemies take.

It doesn't change enemy placement like for example Elemental Master; leaving the stages the same as always.
