Xblox - that Mondaine watch is awesome - classic minimal look - I love it - genuinely looks like a clock in a Swiss train station or something - n1

Definitely Faux. Look up TrickyVikki on Etsy. That's where I got it from. It was kind of pricey though, but I was the Bell of the Ball at Burning Man. At least that's what all the gay dudes kept telling me as they put their hands down my pants.

It IS exactly the look of the swiss railway clock - Mondaine is the official sponsor of the swiss rail clock.
(which apple copied for the ipad-watch without asking mondaine or the SBB - and lost in a lawsuit and had to pay an unknown amount of money to the SBB/mondaine.)

when I was young I skied a good few times in Switzerland (Lenzerheide/Valbella (Rothorn/Stazerhorn)) and I always loved those trains, I loved the look of the Swiss postal service buildings, and bus stations and of course airports haha - from what I remember Zurich airport had loads of aircraft hanging from the ceiling indoors, including some Tiger Moth type thing. On a slightly more relevant note I am also pretty sure that Zurich Airport had that really early pre Pole Position (or maybe it was the original Pole Position) driving arcade game which was literally you steering between just white poles that came towards you...

sorry to be a pain - but can someone who can speak Japanese explain to me if it's possible to buy this from Ireland and what price it looks like it would cost approximately:

Oh my, I remember this game, and yes, I played it at the Zürich Airport (which btw isn't in zürich city, but in a community called "Kloten".Raytrace wrote:wow that is cool - I love that look - what apple copied someone else - ZOMG I thought they invented everything ever!!!Drachenherz wrote:Raytrace wrote:Xblox - that Mondaine watch is awesome - classic minimal look - I love it - genuinely looks like a clock in a Swiss train station or something - n1

yeh it was kinda near one of the toy shops I think eheh - I loved it - from what I remember too it had some super low refresh rate and was a pretty hard to see screen (then again it might have been because even then, it was probably pretty old).Drachenherz wrote: Oh my, I remember this game, and yes, I played it at the Zürich Airport (which btw isn't in zürich city, but in a community called "Kloten".

yeah I remember gazing up at that yellow fabric airplane at a very young age in awe...
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I scored a buttload of crap on YAJ this week. Here's a ton of Mega CD games for only 2,000 yen. I now have more Mega CDs than I ever thought I would own. I think I'll keep about half of them, at least. More like 3/5ths.

Here are the games in this bundle:
Ranma 1/2
Yume Miyakata No Monogatari
Switch
Tenkafubu some samurai simulation game, apparently
Winning Post (dumb horse racing game)
Pro Baseball Super League CD (oh yay, a sports game)
Egawa Suguru's Super League CD (more baseball crap)
Wonder Dog
Mortal Kombat (it's the white trash version of Street Fighter, in case you haven't heard of it)
Funky Horror Band: Wakusei Woodstock
Detonator Orgun
Burai
Thunder Hawk
Rise of the Dragon
Quiz Scramble (yeah, I'll be getting rid of this one soon enough)
Ishii Hisaichi no Daisekai (can't find anything on this one)
Seirei Shinseiki Fhey Area
Heroic Legend of Arslan (SRPG based on the anime)
Star Blade
Heavy Nova
Gyuwambler Jikochushinha 2 - Struggle in the Tokyo Mahjong Land
Microcosm
Egawa Suguru's Super League CD
Lethal Enforcers II
Death Bringer You always were a good judge of men, Death Bringer! Oh wait, that's Deathstalker. Whatever.
AX-101
Black Hole Assault
Cosmic Fantasy Stories a compilation of the first two Cosmic Fantasy RPGs for the PC Engine.
Thunder Storm FX aka Cobra Command
Dynamic Country Club (a golf game)
Prince of Persia
Earnest Evans
Afterburner III
Yumimi Mix
Nobunaga's Ambition 3
Mega Schwarzschild
Wolfchild
So Lunar the Silver Star was supposed to be included, but I did not receive it. I think the guy was shipping so many items that he must have made a mistake. I don't know if he will send it, but I am pretty happy with what I've already received. I'll sell the ones I don't want on either here or Racketboy, and dump the rest at Kanteidan.

That Mondaine actually looks very nice, I especially like the band on it. Looks fairly reasonable on the price too (under $150 on Amazon.)

You see how his helmet is loose and not positioned correctly? I was going to leave them boxed but because of that I am tempted to open them. I just know I'll be sitting on the floor playing with them like a kid if I do.

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I'm the "open everything" type just about anymore. Completely nulls most of the resale value, but I hardly resell anyway. It gives you much more room for displaying, plus you can position them in cool poses! Wouldn't He-man look awesome if he were riding the battle cat? Then you could post a picture of that. Everyone wins.

Here's a bulky mechanical Bulova I hadn't opened until recently. A weird little watch... the hands and the hour markings on the dial glow in the dark:

I think you are right. Especially in this case because when I bought them I imagined having them set up together somewhere. My issue now is that I do not have a dedicated space for games and nerd stuff and my wife is not going to let me decorate the house with toys so right now everything sits in a closet waiting for the day that I have my very own nerd hideaway. If I open them though at least I can pull them out every so often.
Ok. I opened it. Shitty phone camera and my shitty abilities don't really do it justice. These things are a lot more articulated than the originals and Battlecat is huge. I opened them in a manner that left the packages whole. Battlecat just required cutting some tape and sliding him out but with He-man I cut three sides of the bottom part to slide him out so that he can slide back in if I want.

Now I am tempted to get Skeletor and his cat.
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Opening stuff is AWERSOME!

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Now we're talkin! Yeah, you might as well get Skeletor now. Surely the wife won't mind if He-man is fighting evil.

Stuff that arrived in the mail this week. Also picked up another Wii today at a pawn shop (black Wii, complete in box for 80 bucks). Plan to softmod it and keep it dedicated on an RGB CRT (ordered a SCART cable today).
Gradius 2 poster, a bunch of cables, some PC REs, boxed Gameboy, some "special" megadrive games, Arcadie for iPhone, 8-bitty and Blu-rays. Stoked about KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE, Pet Cemetery, E.T. and Judge Dredd.

Second CIB GB Contra Spirits... this one's in excellent condition with no sun fade. Unlike my sunfaded to hell other copy. Also a pretty rare CIB Ninja Spirit GB. Accidentally picked up a loose Ninja Spirit earlier this year thinking it was boxed... but finally got this one.

Some of the Megadrive games that arrived. Doctored up some pics via iPhone insta-collage.

The tiniest 1943 Kai, Rastan, Yie Ar Kung Fu, etc arcade machine you'll ever see... haha

Size comparison of the iPad based iCade vs the iPhone based Arcadie. I thought the iCade was tiny compared to my bartop arcade machines... the Arcadie is miniscule!

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I managed to snag a local PVM-20M2U in absolutely stellar condition last night on the cheap. It was intended as an upgrade to the PVM-14M2U I got recently, but my girlfriend is already sentimentally attached to that one, so maybe I will keep them both in their current state, like some kind of Nekokoneko.
Now, to continue my search for a PVM-20M4U.
