Photographer/Cameraman dies in crash...

Post by JBC »

Just read about this... i was looking for info on 'Blair Witch 3' - forgotten sequel to a movie people hate for no reason. Apparently one of the cinematographers for the movie was killed in a plane crash while filming location shots for a movie called 'Crossbones'. The engine of the plane he was in sputtered and died and the plane crashed into a lake or something. His name was Neal Fredericks. This happened in August of last year. Apparently he could not escape the crash like the pilot and crew due to the fact that he was in a safety harness of some sorts while filming from the plane or helicopter...

For some reason i picture this all very vividly. Maybe it has more impact on me because i have the Blair Witch symbol tattooed on my right shoulder out of love for the first movie.

And just so you know - i don't care if you hate the Blair Witch Project.

Ah, man. That's always a sad thing to hear.

Being a cameraman/cinematographer ain't all fun and games, kids. I've been hit in the face from the wadding used in blanks, knocked over by a glancing blow from a motorcycle, and had countless other minor accidents/misshaps that could have been a lot worse.

Hearing about this reminds of the time I was doing some aerial photography near Corpus Christi. I was shooting out of the window of a small twin engine plane, when the director asks the pilot to bank 90 degrees as close to the water as he could. After seeing the water whiz by that close, I think I came to terms with my own mortality.
