Hello All,
After 12 years of toying around with game development, I finally finished my first one! It's not big in scope, but I think that's what I had to do to finish. My "grand" design will most likely take a few more years. Anyways, if anyone is interested in some tips and advice on finishing their first game, I would be more than happy to provide them....
Here's is a shameless plug;
The game attempts to "blur" a schmup with space combat. It was designed to be played in short bursts.... if anyone plays the demo I would really like some feedback on what I can do to improve it.
FYI windows 8 only... but there is a cool trailer on the page
Yes, it's my own code and own rendering engine. I used Directx 11.1 and my own game engine and AI. I made it a Windows 8 store app... just because Microsoft made it so easy. But I can just as easily port it to older versions of Windows. I am actually pondering on porting it to Mac OSX. I have a similar rendering engine in OpenGL 3.3 for PC. Same shaders and looks pretty much the same.
I did however purchase the 3D models from Turbosquid. I just can't model for the life of me. Music is composed from a bunch of samples from the Sony Acid Studio 8.0 kit I picked up. Some of the things I did to shorten dev time.
I'm a little worried that I made the game to short. I have an idea for two more bosses.
