Trading in Vita for a 3DS doesn`t sound like a very good idea, to be honest. Especially in Europe, where unless you`re a fan of Nintendo`s first-party stuff, there really isn`t much to choose from at this moment. Mine is collecting dust right now and isn`t gonna be getting any use until Fire Emblem: Awakening and Monster Hunter 3G, and it`s gonna be awhile before these two come out.

P.S. Been playing Goku Makai-Mura Kai(aka Ultimate Ghost`n`Goblins Revised) on my Vita. Wicked sick game! Has the 3DS got any platformers that are even remotely as awesome? Thought so. :)

That's a PSP game though. Might as well swap your Vita for a PSP + cash.

DS had a bunch of good 2D action platformers, the Castlevania games and Mega Man Zero Collection for starters, all of which are playable on 3DS.

New SMB2 is meant to be good, haven't played it though. Can't argue with Makaimura Kai... but isn't that a PSP game? :|

3DS isn't offering much in the way of classic 2D gaming (I heard Shinobi isn't very good) but I've really enjoyed everything else I've picked up. RE: Revelations is smart too. If Marc's really that disenchanted (and he seems to be more so with each successive comment) it can't hurt to try switching while the trade in value is still reasonable. Very much depends on whether you enjoy Nintendo games however.

EDIT: Paradigm's too quick. ;)
And yes, 2D DS action games abound!

New Super Mario Bros. 2 feels uninspiring. The only good thing is that Nintendo got rid of annoying parts of recent Mario games such as a "lives lost" counter, a "top of the flag" bonus, and no way to regain shiny stars if they're lost. In return, we get annoying endless run stages that makes the game feel like an iOS title and a complete gimmick in collecting coins. It's certainly not a bad game but for me, it's getting into "more of the same" territory now.

3DS Shinobi feels a bit clunky, and the stages are really long. It's not bad either but it doesn't really resemble a classic Shinobi.

As for the Vita, I'm concerned about the handheld. Lately, Falcom has released a pair of RPGs for the Vita (although one is a port) that have been rare shining points. But there's nothing to look forward to right now that isn't available on other platforms.

I'm getting Street Fighter X Tekken for Vita but that's only because it'll include codes for all DLC and would thus be a more economical way of getting all the content for my PS3 version than buying them on PSN. There are really no extras to look forward to from that port. The only unique future release that interests me is the Super Robot Wars game that's known in name only (and could be as tentative as the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest titles that were announced for the 3DS before the system came out).

The sad part is that there are a few future PSP games that I'm interested in, such as Saint Seiya Omega, Gunhound EX, and Shining Ark. And I certainly won't be playing them on my Vita. I have no intention of pirating anything and always buy the UMD version so the Vita is useless for playing my PSP games. If Sony wants to make a UMD reader for the Vita, then I'd be open to buying it.

Ha, I think it's still no match for STD's Nintendo-authorized Handy Boy for the original Game Boy. Somehow, I thought that was pretty cool at the time... And even now, the 3DS shouldn't have all the fun with its cumbersome Circle Pad Pro.

I've said it before; Sony should start selling PSP games on PS Vita cards. I for one won't buy a single digital distro PSP game.

Never gonna happen. There`s no market for something like that. CFW is your savior.

Wait, really? That's one of the best additions. I didn't want the game anyway, but now I super don't want it.

Awesome: Zero Escape has just been released for PS Vita. It's the sequel to the adventure game 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (on Nintendo DS, must-have game).

Who cares? Looks better on PS Vita, and you can import it if it shouldn't be released in your region (eg, 999 only saw an English release in America). 3DS = Region locked, smaller screen, lower res.

What, you aren't overawed by the announcement of another Japanese shovelware strategy/dungeon RPG with tits in it (that you can't play because of the language barrier?) :|

Demon Gaze is made by Experience. I played their previous titles, namely Generation Xth series for PC and Students of the Round for the 360, and I would say they are pretty damn fine dungeon crawlers. Sure they are made on very low budgets, but they are very far from shovelware.

And they have tits for the same reason Cave games have so many lolis.

3DS XL screen size: 4.8"
Vita screen size: 5"

HUGE DIFFERENCE.

If you bought the launch 3DS, you blew it.

Gravity Daze is still the only game worthwhile on the Vita.

You really want to go there?
3DS screen resolution: 800×240 (or 400x240 in 3D mode)
PS Vita screen res: 960×544

3DS XL = 96 ppi
PS Vita = 220 ppi

Indeed, that is a huge difference.

Sorry to hear your eyes can't differentiate between 96 pixels per inch and 220. Have you seen a doctor about it? In case your condition can be cured, you'll experience a world of visual wonder afterwards. Best of luck to you!

Gravity Daze is still the only game worthwhile on the Vita.
I liked/like:

Wip3out
Uncharted
Gravity Daze
Ninga Gaiden Sigma
Ys 4
Jet Set Radio
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Super Stardust Delta
Rayman Origins
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable
DJMax Technika Tune

and Persona 4 I'm looking forward to.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Number of Vita games in that list? And is EDF even out yet?

Sad fact is a spectacular piece of kit is bombing, and bombing hard. My main reason for keeping it is that once it tanks and Sony stops caring, it'll be a fucking awesome emulation machine. Id like another reason, really I would, but the chances of it attracting any meaningful exclusive is fading fast, unless the already clueless Sony bankroll it.

Hey, it has already surpassed Neo Geo Pocket's lifetime sales by a million (current PSV install base is above 3 million).

Anyway, it has only been available worldwide for 8 months. Too early to know how it's going to do a year from now.

What? The screen size is of irrelevance here. It`s the resolution that matters(Friendly already covered this).

Not really. 96 ppi for 3DS XL compared to 133 ppi for normal 3DS.
