If I had that kind of dough, I wouldn't blow it on a pseudo lux brand such as Tag. You are way better off with the Fossil (actually, I'd be better off with a Fossil rather than a fashion name trinket watch). The next one, I'm probably gonna save a little more and, in a few years, buy an Omega or a Zenith (or both!). If you can't bring yourself to spend 3K+ on a Seamaster, then look into getting a vintage watch. The problems with that are 1) they're not totally new, so some will be heavy with patina on the watch face and 2) they may not be in tick-tock shape if it wasn't refurbished well enough. Maybe system11 knows of a good vintage watch retailer for old lux stuffVexorg wrote:I have long thought it would be nice to have a respectable watch (I'm thinking I would probably go with a Tag Heuer if I did spend the bucks fr one) but it's just one of those things where I always have a bunch of other better uses for my disposable income. I have a titanium Fossil right now that isn't too fancy, but holds up well and has higher water resist than most of their models.
You cannot go wrong with German and Swiss designs. Still, I just bought a Casio as a political statementAcid_Rain wrote:love the black one. so simple…xbl0x180 wrote:Just got some Bauhaus-lookin' watches![]()

Yeah, after doing a bit more reading on the Internet I'm not so sure about a Tag Heuer anymore. I'm seeing too many stories of $400 repair bills on watches less than two years old. In terms of something somewhat more affordable, I'd probably look at a Citizen, but I think my current watch is still good for a few years.xbl0x180 wrote:If I had that kind of dough, I wouldn't blow it on a pseudo lux brand such as Tag. Might be worth investigating Poljot/Buran watches - Russian, quite a variety. One of mine got broken by someone knocking it off a shelf, cost 60 euros to repair. The best ones aren't cheap, but they aren't ridiculous either. Poljot24.de is a very trustworthy seller.Vexorg wrote:Yeah, after doing a bit more reading on the Internet I'm not so sure about a Tag Heuer anymore. I like a lot of their watches, but I don't know if I'm a person to ask since... I have NO taste or knowledge in horology. Anyway, the one they feature at the top of their page is the one I wantOctopod wrote:I hear Steinhart is a great band for the price.
I am considering one of these.
Not to everyones taste I'm sure though.
That Steinhart looks like a nice one too. I don't know much about watches myself but I was doing some research when I decided to start looking. What I gather is that Steinhart is inexpensive(relatively speaking ofc) because it is kind of unknown but their watches are good quality Swiss made. I think you can get the glass backs as an option on all of their watches which is pretty neat because their mechanisms look nice. I also heard that when you order it might be a bit of a wait for them to get to you sometimes though.xbl0x180 wrote:

It's around 500 righteous bucks for the chance to own one and you pretty much have to order through them 'cause there are no retailers here in the U.S. that deal their watches.
Oh, yeah, and to stay on topic, I should be receiving a Ziiro Celeste soon:
It's a strange novelty design. I LIKE IT!

Eugenics: you know it's right!
Steinhart ships by FedEx, so, while it'll cost ya around 40 bucks, you will get the watch in around 4 business days. I think you will also have to pay a $20 "inspection fee" from customs, which FedEx will pay for you initially to have it released right away.Octopod wrote:That Steinhart looks like a nice one too. I could be mixing up some of the brands I was looking at then.xbl0x180 wrote:Steinhart ships by FedEx, so, while it'll cost ya around 40 bucks, you will get the watch in around 4 business days. I have small wrists, so I have to be careful with how big a watch is. My limit is 45mm, but, even then, a watch like that looks awful on me. I have a coupla crappy designer watches that're 44mm and the buttons dig into the top of my hand; it was so bad that I started wearing them on my right hand (which looks weird, too!). Their aviator and mariner watches are generally more than 45mm, except for that one I pointed out. I don't think you have the option to have a skeleton watch (face or back); they already come that way. My automatic watches all have that feature
Be sure to keep small metalic objects small enough to fall into the holes when its on. Had one from Shanghai as well and it was a death trap.nZero wrote:So I bought a power strip. The list of features on the packaging really helped sell it.

Haha, I'm leery of cheap power adapters for this reason. Don't want to come home to a charred shell of a home because I wanted to save $3.00 on a power adapter.Vexorg wrote:Guaranteed not to set you on fire or your money back?
