Shin Jinrui: The New Type

Post by viper_phase1 »

I'd like to know more about this game - and since there isn't very much information that I've been able to find on my own I thought that I would ask here.

The second loop of the game is supposedly more difficult than the first - but I find the difference very marginal. I'm mostly curious to find out if there is there a third loop and does the game continue to get increasingly difficult until it is impossible to complete?
I'm also curious to know more about the development staff. Since there are no credits, I'm having trouble tracking down that sort of information. A friend of mine suggested to me that some of the staff may have gone on to work for Sunsoft.

One thing I do know is that it had an stateside release as "Adventures of Dino Riki", in fact, I happen to own a cartridge....but but that's about all I know-besides the fact that's it a vertical shmup with a pain in the ass jump feature and it's got a "caveman VS dinosaurs" theme to it, kinda like Bonk.

Still kinda fun, and the music is catchy.

Thanks for your response!
I'm aware of Adventures of Dino Riki. I haven't played it, but as far as I know it's nearly identical to the original - with the exception of the title screen.
I agree - the jumping mechanics are the easiest aspect of the game to criticize. I like the prehistoric theme quite a bit. There are no overt narrative elements in the game - however, the simple driving force of the game is the survival of the fittest concept - and more specifically, the survival of the human race - which I find quite interesting.
I also agree that the music is quite good in the game - it seems like at least one of the composers was Takeaki Kunimoto, but that's all I know.

The ol' trick to this game was to have 2 controllers plugged in. Once you got the wing item (Where you flew if you rapidly pressed the jump button) you can have the second controller with a player on it rapidly press the jump button so you could fly indefinitely. It was cool when i was a kid, but nowadays you have turbo controllers for that

I'm not sure if I misunderstood your post, but the wing tile allows the player to fly indefinetly while holding the A button and you lose the ability if you get hit.
