Op Intensify wrote:King's Field II and III let you run pretty damn fast. It's only the fourth one that feels like trudging through molasses, but it's not really detrimental to the game anyway.
2 has faster movement than the others, mainly thanks to the higher average (yet also very unstable) framerate. 3's framerate is slower but more consistent, making the movement feel slower as well, though there are some boots that allow for faster running.
Op Intensify wrote:What? There's one of those in IV.
Really? I don't remember seeing one. Guess I'll fire the game up again to check.

Does anyone have it archived?
I would love to play through it this winter.
You figure it out man, hook me up!

Does the DLC have the exact same features than the "prepare to die" edition ?
I don't think anyone knows yet. Of particular interest are a bunch of changes in the PC version (glitches removed, more changes to item stats) that might or might not come bundled with the DLC. Wouldn't stop me from picking it up, but some particular builds might not work as well as they used to.
Hopefully all this means they are working on the follow-up and not waiting around for the ps4.

I am waiting on starting up a new character for the DLC so that I can judge any changes as they crop up. I also know very little about the levels or bosses, or how to access them in the game, and I am looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.
Are there going to be retail re-releases in the US for both PS3 and 360 with the DLC included? I traded my 360 copy in to Amazon a few months ago with the idea of rebuying a re-release version...
sjewkestheloon> There isn't much point in waiting. I mean, 98% of the game is gonna stay the same, and I'd say 100% of what effects players within the first 30 levels or so will stay the same. True, DWGR is apparently getting nerfed, but you can just tone down your armor. The first patch freaked me out a bit, having invested 'so many souls' into equipment that got nerfed, but really, in the end it isn't that big a deal. Ultimately souls are cheap in this game, especially when you start looping it. Also, and maybe more relevant for you, the DLC is certainly for higher level play (apparently you should have placed the lord vessel at least), so starting now wouldn't in anyway hurt you.

DWGR nerf is so amazing: You have to have <25% weight for it to have an effect now and I love it. The new "go to" ring combo is RoFaP and Wolf Ring. Greatswords now swing slower, so expect to see far fewer Claymores everywhere (though the MLGS is apparently unaffected when held with two hands) and far more Zweihanders. Lightning/Fire/Chaos weapons also got smacked a little with the nerf bat, IIRC. The new dark magic is fucking brutal (Pursuers/Dark Bead combo oh god) and has definitely made INT builds even more ridiculous than they were pre-PTD. New PvP meta-cap is 100, by the way, so start prepping your builds now (Arenas are grouped by brackets of 50). Oh, and you might want to wait until you're ready to beat the game before you attempt the new content... The bosses are quite difficult (fuck you and your tail, Kalameet).
<trap15> I only pick high quality games
<trap15> I'm just pulling shit out of my ass tbh
I just want to reiterate something I keep saying here: "Make Dark Souls 2 for christsake and quit fucking with this game". I know everytime they do a patch the pvp crowd goes crazy, but the core game has mostly gone unchanged. I can't wait to play the new areas, but I'm very much ready for a new game, not DLC and nerfs/buffs. Is this Super Dark Souls Turbo edition yet?

If a re-release with the DLC included comes to the US, then I'll really get pissed. My copy is still unopened here. If I had waited until I cleared my backlog, then I could've gotten the DLC-included version for cheap.
This has bitten me in the ass before. While you can find the Game of the Year Edition of Borderlands with all DLC included for cheap, my vanilla copy bought at launch is still sitting here, have barely played it
Pretty much the only good thing to come out of buying a game early is getting in early on its online scene (which counts for next to nothing as far as I'm concerned). Other than that, think of all the good things you can get from waiting - missing the slow churn through patches as the game studios flail around to find acceptable solutions to obvious problems, missing stuff broken by the patches (ha ha, the splash damage indicator from the Battlefield 2 minigun still makes me chuckle), getting DLC and expansions by default, and possibly even preorder bonuses rolled back into the game (happens in Deus Ex HR on Steam), and more (I enjoy being able to play older classics at the maximum settings without taxing my computer; I'm sure I could play Crysis if I cared to). Unlike being an early adopter of some hardware platform, it's not like I miss out greatly on being able to do a range of things via a specific game.
Fight the power and all that. I keep my money until I'm ready to play.
Well, the patch came out yesterday on the psn, and at something like 350 mb, I'm assuming it has a lot of data for the dlc as well. As a DWGR user the changes were pretty obvious. Now you are definitely going to have to pick between speed vs stance. Havel's ring is now without a doubt the best ring in the game. Apparently the great swords got nerfed (slower, no stunlock), but in general a lot of te other changes seem like good things. Still, I'm primarily interested in PvE, and having this game change so many times just seems weird.
By the time I get home tonight the DLC should be out...not that I have a character ready to explore the new area yet.

As expected, the update IS the DLC, so when you actually buy the DLC, it's just a key to unlock it. I can't imagine having Dark Souls and not wanting the DLC, but I guess you are forced to download it via the patch whether you want it or not.
Anyway, hopefully get to play this a bit later.

No one else here playing the DLC? Finally got to the new content and really enjoyed the first boss. Next section feels a bit too much like Darkroot Garden, but to early to say much more.

It's not like this on the 360 version, the patch is like 30mb while the dlc is 300 there.
The difficulty is just right for me in NG+++ at level 120. Artorias took me a couple hours lol.. Kalameet is destroying me at, such a long fight. All the bosses in the DLC seem much more agressive and better designed than the originals which is awesome. I'd argue the areas are well designed too (township at least) lots of online activity as well, fun times to be had.

It is Darkroot Basin :p
Is it? That would certainly change my opinion of it instead of it feeling more like a rehash.

Yep, first boss was wonderful. I'm at the final area. Been pretty rough on my NG++ character, but so far so good.
The optional boss is a blast if you have two helpers who know what they're doing.
Overall, not quite as good as I was hoping, but still enjoyable.

I ended up not getting it due to being stuck into several other games at the moment and not wanting to drop them until I am done. I will be getting it as soon as I feel like getting really stuck in.
I still haven't really got stuck into Demon's Souls either which, in my opinion so far, is a lot harder than Dark Souls.
