List of Wii arcade ports (non-virtual console)

Post by gabe »

Anyone want to help me make this list? I checked Google, but couldn't find one pre-compiled. I'd like to stick to games that were released on disc that are close to direct ports (no virtual console).

Here's the no-where-near complete list so far. What's missing?
  • Big Buck Hunter Pro
Castle of Shikigami III (Shikigami no Shiro episode-3)
    Counter Force (ExZeus)
    Cruis'n (Fast & The Furious)
    Data East Arcade Classics
    Dragon's Lair Trilogy
Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Victory (port of Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road II Legends)
    Ghost Squad
    GunBlade NY and LA Machineguns
Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core / Plus
    GTI Club Supermini Festa
    House of the Dead 2&3
King of Fighters Collection- The Orochi Saga
    Mad Dog Mccree Gunslinger Pack
    Metal Slug Anthology
Milestone Shooting Collection (Ultimate Shooting Collection 1 and 2)
    • Chaos Field
      Illvelo
      Karous
      Radirgy
      Radirgy Noa
    Namco Museum Megamix
    Namco Museum Remix
    Octomania (Sharuui * Takoron)
    Samurai Shodown Anthology
    SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1
    Target Terror (Target: Force)
    Tatsunoko Vs Capcom

Whats wrong with it on Wii? I've got the japanese PS2 version and it's pretty perfect except for lack of 240p and a slightly blurry filter.

Namco Museum Megamix is missing from the list, though it's pretty much Namco Museum Remix with more games.

Don't get CounterForce. It's really bad.

I was thinking more Shikigami 3, Milestone 1 (kind of wish the second one was localized >.>), and Gunblade NY, myself. Counterforce looks like a forgotten N64 game forgotten for good reason, ha ha.

It's so sparse you can as well include the list of 'Cube ports (labelled as such). The ones coming to my mind now: Ikaruga, Shikigami no Shiro II, Midway Arcade Treasures 1-3, Soul Calibur II, Super Monkey Ball, F-Zero GX, Gauntlet Dark Legacy (although you can play it Robotron-way, with twin sticks, and it's overall an extension rather than a port).

I just picked up Gunblade NY / LA Machineguns for $14 from Amazon. That purchase prompted me to make this thread, as I had no idea that the port even existed. Gunblade NY shows its age, but the chaining mechanic in LA Machineguns has proven addictive. Shikigami III is also frequently found in the bargain bin. You should definitely pick it up if you own a Wii and are a member of this forum.

As for the 2nd Milestone collection, let me point out that it is really easy to softmod ANY Wii to play imports. At this stage in the game, I might even say that the battle is over, and the Wii hacking community has won.

Good idea. I was hoping that there were more Wii arcade ports that I didn't know about. I'll do a bit of research and start adding Gamecube games to the list. In the meantime, I'd welcome any additions to the aforementioned 'Cube games.

It's weird how that game keeps getting ported. I got the PS2 version for a buck or two but it's just not fun. I imagine the Wii version would be slightly better thanks to the point 'n shoot controls, but I heard it doesn't have autofire so that's just painful.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

The arcade game is also named Target: Terror, like the Wii version. I have never seen it under the name Target: Force. I have however, seen an updated version called Target: Terror Gold.

According to various sources in Google, it was titled Target: Force in Japan.

Another 'Cube curio - reportedly in Star Wars Rogue Suadron III: Rebel Strike the ancient vector game Star Wars is unlockable, as is the sequel of it. I've got the game (bought primarily for the missions from II playable in co-op here) but still no idea if the port is any good.

I've seen a Target: Force cabinet in the US.

Warning to anyone thinking of buying it: The Wii version of Target: Terror is a total Zonk because of fucked up control. Your reticle does a poor job of following the Wiimote's aim. Somehow I managed to get the "Whipping Boy" achievement on this port. You get that if you've been taking too much damage in one stage. I never saw that in the arcade version.

Target: Force was distributed by Taito in Japan. I saw it on their website once and used to think it was a TypeX game because of that. Nope- it's just some other PC hardware.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

retail games:
Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Victory (port of Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road II Legends)
Jambo! Safari: Animal Rescue ("enhanced" port, avoid at all cost)
Taiko No Tatsujin Wii (maybe, I have no idea if it really is an arcade port)

not ports, but part of a series that started in the arcades:
Rampage: Total Destruction
SoulCalibur Legends
Toshinden
Virtua Tennis 2009

some interesting VC ports:
Cybersled
Solvalou
Starblade

Also, I think GTI Club Supermini Festa was originally released on Wii and the arcade version was a port (same goes for Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing).

GC games:
Beach Spikers
Bloody Roar Extreme (updated version of Bloody Roar 2)
Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO
Chaos Field
Gauntlet Dark Legacy
Gekitou Pro Yakyuu
Kidou Senshi Gundam: Gundam vs. Z Gundam (enhanced version of AEUG vs. Titans DX)
Kinnikuman Nisei: Shinsedai Choujin vs. Densetsu Choujin (not a port)
Puyo Puyo Fever
Smashing Drive
SoulCalibur II
Super Monkey Ball
?Super Puzzle Bobble All-Stars
Virtua Striker 2002

Wii U games:
Tank! Tank! Tank!

Thanks. Added to the list.

I actually heard this wasn't a port at all, and was basically just using the license. Does anyone have any more info?

Aren't there several Taiko no Tatsujin games on the Wii? Does anyone know if any of them are ports?
