im done with this thing. Done. but it wont sync. i would post the whole story here of how i built it, but honestly, im tired of repeating it.
Id just like to see the off colors on the rgb nes. everyone is talking way ahead about off colors. i got so far on my rgb nes, that its basically done, but it wont sync i just get b/w rolling picture through the ebay scart to yuv component converter. im also using a wega that doesnt seem to be helping things.
i also tried the trick someone on here suggested, of turning another console on and switching to it and then back the nes.
if i hit BOTH switches on the scart splitter, for my nes and snes, and leave them both on, my nes picture stabilizes where i can actually see a picture, and i get color. of course, the video from the snes being on at the same time is distorting it, but at least im getting some color out of the damn thing.
my question is, what part am i missing on the sync line? its coming off of the rgb ppu, going into a 220 UF cap, negative side pointing towards tv, through a straight wired, pin-to-pin altona scart cable, into the component converter, out through component, into my wega kvfs120.
ive checked and triple checked the connections.
i am basically picking up on this project again, after walking away from it for a month or so.
rgb nes will not sync.
Re: rgb nes will not sync.
Need LM1881 sync cleaner. Remove the cap.
Re: rgb nes will not sync.
ill try that again. i had the sync cleaner hooked up at one time, but i also had the cap in there too.
Re: rgb nes will not sync.
i tried it today. I hooked the lm1881 back up, and took the cap off and it didnt do a thing.mvsfan wrote:ill try that again. i had the sync cleaner hooked up at one time, but i also had the cap in there too.
Re: rgb nes will not sync.
I did a little reading here because I was curious about this. It seems that NES RGB mods use the amplifier in the NES that is normally used for c-video, to amplify the c-sync that comes from a Playchoice-10 PPU. Pretty cool. Is this what you have done too with your mod, mvsfan (your post seems to indicate no)? And is there a guide that you used?

at first, i had the sync hooked up straight to the sync pin on the ppu. i have since reconnected it and its now going through the rf box out to the composite connector. i took sync from the composite.
one thing im wondering now, am i supposed to then run the sync through a transistor also, to amplify it, or just connect it straight to the lm1881, like i have it now?
