seriously this is momentous - I can't wait, I've gotten to the stage after 10 episodes where I've convince myself HK subs are ok, but it is tiring hahah

Imma put Mazinger Z on hold now till they come out - I'll go straight to Getter Robo now, or mayb Mazinkaiser - I might watch some of the Mazinger Z movies though...

episode 1 of Shin Mazinger Z - pure amazingness - a nonstop sensory assault.

I know it's kinda the wrong way around, but it really felt like Gurren Lagann to me, which I liked a lot...

haha don't worry I did not mean to blaspheme, and I've sat through 10 eps of crabstick HK subs, so no doubt I love teh Mazinger. Having said that, I thought you'd like Gurren Lagann xblox, it's definitely pretty 'manime' IMO...

Yeah, I rented Kishin Corps at the local Hollywood Video rental joint back in the mid-1990s (when they used to get in a small selection of newer anime on VHS tape format for rent from time to time). Pretty interesting mecha designs btw. The local "The Video Park" video rental joint would also carry some anime VHS rentals as well (FYI: Video Park was notorious for asking for your social security number at the front counter desk if you wanted to rent a movie or even a game console back in the day -- apparently, that was how they did business with first time or even repeat customers...WTF?!) However, if you were buying a movie or a game, they wouldn't ask for your SSN. Strange but true! I do recall that some of the other competing major video rental franchises such as Major Video, Blockbuster Video, Hollywood Video, etc. wouldn't even ask for such SSN period but with TVP rental franchise, it was quite something else.

Any thoughts on the Steins Gate series?

Interesting, but not so good.

If you want something based on a visual novel watch Higurashi.

Little Bastards 1 is really dumb but I heard that it gets 3deep5u later so I'll probably stick around and see.

P.S. how2watchsteinsgate: 1 to 12, then skip to the last 3 episodes.

I'd totally gobble up a boxset of all the ghibli releases releases in the USA.

Looking through the contents of that set, lol, why'd they put Tales from Earthsea in there? That movie was terrible!
It's cool to see the Lupin movie get in there though.

Same with Whisper of the Heart. One of my personal favorite Ghibli movies - it always gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. : D

From Up On Poppy Hill/Kokuriko Zaka Kara was surprisingly good, it reminded me of the anime adaptation of Little Women (for no apparent reason)

^Yep, that's a bootleg. Looks like it's in a good case, though!

Ohhhh, yeah. The OVAs are incredible. RightStuf rereleased them as well this year in some glorious new transfers. Still need to pick that up! Sadly only ten episodes, but they are of a bit higher quality. You won't be disappointed! :D

I tells ye, you kids are lucky these were re-released at totally awersome prices. I got them when ADV released them and went outta print... thus, I paid higher prices. They're worth it, though. Hell, throw in Dirty Pair Flash in there: Ugly designs, but the same spirit from the show 8)
