Just Like Real Life: A game jam shmup I made

Hello!

I recently participated in a game jam where I made a shmup, and spadgy suggested I post it here to see what you think of it. It's a bit rough around the edges, it was made it only 48 hours, but maybe you'll enjoy it.

It's designed around mouse control, so that's what you'll need to use.

Right now it's playable in a browser here, with the unity web plugin, and there'll be a downloadable Windows/Mac version some point later this week.

We only tested it on 16:9, not sure what it'll do at other resolutions.

There's an online leaderboard too :wink:

I should point out that although I did much of the design, audio design, titles screen and other stuff, I was partnered with a coder who did most of the heavy lifting.

It deeply pisses me off how kusoges get more attention than my non-kusoge game did, ah the damn hypocrisy on shmups forums as usual.

Out of interest, is this using Unity Pro?

I have a pro license and your game just gave me a MASSIVE brainwave. I think I just figured out how to do Tate in Unity....

Please add keyboard controls. Mouse controls might be bad but tolerable in other situations, but in this game the demanding amount of dodging and aiming makes them unacceptable.
Ugly graphics can be forgiven as mere cheapness, especially in a quickly made contest entry; mouse-only controls cannot, because they are an intentional choice.
