People like this absolutely ruin buffets. They're not exactly locations of fine dining to begin with, but it doesn't mean you can just leave your class at the door and scoff down everything in sight... Bluerg.

LOL, even funnier because we went to this restaurant for dinner a few weeks ago.

To be honest, five bowls isn't much - they're the size of a thimble - but I can understand bad manners and screwing up the buffet. It's a Teppanyaki style hot plate service, which is something they don't make clear in the article, so all the foodstuffs are raw and you take it to the chef to cook.

It's also not a pile-it-on buffet. You can go ad-hoc, but it makes much more sense to look at the menu because they have instructions on how to make all sorts of dishes from different parts of the globe, from African and Vietnamese to US (all very spicy.)

Great restaurant, I recommend it. Just don't get barred!

Definitely, the dishes you can make are all excellent. It's also quite interesting to go from Moroccan to Indonesian in the space of twenty minutes, and there's an abundance of vegetarian/seafood options too.

The restaurant is quite hidden away though, so you might need to use a map.

I don't know the true story behind that, but if what the article wrote was the exact truth, it only meant two things:

1) the two fat guys were truly that rowdy (in which they could simply be told to slow down or something more professional in that direction)

2) owner is sore he is making a loss. nothing wrong, it's human, but if he's going to do a buffet, he has to expect a small portion of people who can definitely eat more than what they paid, and the owner is the one who set the price, so there's nobody he could blame but himself

I would assume every 'news' article ever written is never the exact truth - journalists always want to put some kind of spin on things.

For example, why is the word 'greedy' in the headline? It could easily have just said:

"Brighton all-you-can eat restaurant bans two diners"

Which is a strict statement of fact, rather than tossing in something subjective like 'greedy'.

Also, why would a restaurant owner ban two regulars (if we are to believe the "twice a month for two years" bit) unless it was a last resort?

This reminds me of Louie Anderson's old stand-up comedy act about the all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet restaurant. "Big boy! You go now! You here four hour!"

They have a bunch of Mongolian BBQ places all over Phoenix, AZ where I'm from. They're okay, I guess. The most I've been able to eat was one and a half bowls of the stuff, and I'm known to be able to eat a lot of food at one time.

In the article, the restaurant owner/manager says it was because the banned customers were being very rude to other patrons and making a mess of the bar. I can totally understand him banning them if this were the case. The newspaper and the two fatties seem to be making the case that it's because these "greedy" little piggies eat too much. I'm sure the truth is a little bit of both and somewhere in the middle.
If you've ever been to the interior of Oklahoma, I don't see how anyone can be banned for eating too much at a buffet. There seemingly isn't too much to do there and the locals are into "two men enter, one man leaves" competitive style eating at Golden Corral (fitting name for the cattle that frequent the place).

This was taken by a friend of mine.

1) Yes, it's real.

2) The "big" passenger was allowed to stay.

3) The guy in the middle seat was pulled from the flight and given $$$ voucher for future travel + f/c on the next available flight.

4) AA is one of the wimpiest companies I've ever worked for - they are ***terrified*** of lawsuits!

Cant believe it took them 2 years to ban them, the problem is similar in some of the restaurants in Birmingham we get piss heads coming in and being incredibly rude to fellow customers and especially the staff what some of those idiots fail to understand is if your not nice to the staff dont be surprised if you get a nice helping of semen in your food and then your banned

At least a couple airlines do have policies saying that if you can't fit between the armrests, you have to buy two tickets. I don't know that they consistently enforce it, though.

Yeah, it's obviously real. I see obese fools waddle into my work everyday. If you go to a buffet around here you almost always see multiple people that large. One of the benefits of living in America, obviously.

The only buffet I'll go for anymore are Indian buffets because I can try everything. Standard American helpings are larger than I can digest at a single sitting without feeling like I'm stuffing myself.
