Ok. This is starting to piss me off...

Post by JBC »

First it giveth and then it taketh away...

About two weeks ago here in Scottsdale, Az we had a tiny little cold front come through. The temperature lowered into i believe the mid to high 80's at nighttime for about three days and then it just got hot again. Oh... how i had adjusted.

I had totally gotten used to the heat. Winter and fall became nothing more than a fantasy story to me... a false memory of something i thought i had once expierienced. I didn't even realize it. The heat was, to me, all there was in the outside world. I wasn't even thinking about winter coming soon... and then that night happened.

I couldn't help it - my mind reeled at the beautiful temperature outside. It smelled good. It felt good. The wind was so refreshing - every breath i took was like a nice swig of artesian well water. Nothing could bring me down. I was instantly addicted to the nice air outside like a long clean junkie taking his first shot of heroine. Except this was a good, healthy drug - fresh, clean cold air.

But then it went away. Now it's hot again... not even a hint of the cold air has come back to us. And me - this little Mississippi boy stuck in Az - i am so fiending for the cool... i think i'm losin' it.

The cold helps me to appreciate things alot more. I may wait until it does get cool to start playing my Gradius III and IV pack i got today. Oh, and don't think that a simple AC unit can even remotley produce the same euphoric effect that the cold winter air can on me... I'm moving to Canada.

Same here. A few nice fall days, then slam-- back to the crappy, humid heat. Fall cannot come soon enough for me.

so 80 degrees at night is considered a cold front there, eh? Around here 80 degrees at any time of the day is considered to fall into the category of "really freakin' hot".

That goes to show you the extent of this weather thing...

Humans are trying to figure out how to control the weather...

... but the weather has already got control of us.

Heh...round here it's uncomfortably sticky and humid for half the year and bitterly cold for the other half...we get a few decent days during the transition between the two, but that's about it. You never really "get used to" it, you just learn to complain a lot to distract yourself from it. ;)

Try 80 percent humidity, with temps 0f 101 or so.
South Texas is pretty much like Florida.
But S. Texas is hotter...more like Arizona, but with the added weight of humidity.
I swear, I go out in my garage and just simply look at my car, and my forehead is already dripping with sweat! Most people around here take two showers a day...even though they may work inside with air conditioning!
(just going from inside to outside can be rough!)

You guys got heat and humidity, I got a hurricane that passed right over me (the eye was 75 miles west of me, but winds were powerful enough), I'd take the heat and humidity, but the storm cooled us off at least for a couple days.

Well, yeah, if it bothers you that much, and you have the means to do so, then definately move to a cooler climate.

I was originall born in Denver, but during the 3 years we lived in Boston, my family and I hated the weather. It was always extreme-extreme heat with humidity, or extreme cold with humidity. And cloudy about as much as it's sunny here in Denver. Sunshine has enormus phsycological benefits, so just don't pick a cooler climate that's clouded over most of the year.

This year's humidity and higher than normal heat has been hell- even making a stay at Kings' Island this July a little less fun than it could've been. It's sometimes been more muggy than Ohio should be- some days have felt more like Florida. Fall is here and I'm ready.

It'd be nice if the ocean temperatures could be kept low, even artificially. Around California, the cooler ocean waters are what generally shuts out hurricanes. Shame we can't have it this way around the whole coast.

Ohio's winters simply SUCK. If I win a jackpot someday, I'm saying hello to Newport Beach or some other SoCal haven.

New England weather blows worse than anything, last week I was sweating like crazy after a one mile walk and now I'm shivering since it's chilly. I go from needing a change of t-shirt to a blankie, madness.

The weather is still quite nice here... It's about a week or two away from the point in the fall where you need to have the heater on in the car when you drive to work, and the AC on when you're coming home in the afternoon.
