DoDonpachi DOJ PCB glitch
DoDonpachi DOJ PCB glitch
Hi there
These days i got finaly my DaiOuJou PCB. Now i notice there are sometimes graphic glitches mostly when a Boss is exploding some explosion layer shows a kind of graphic garbage. I tryed to clean the PCB so good as possible, but it dosn't disapear. Any idea whats the problem with this DOJ?
Thank you very much

Re: DoDonpachi DOJ PCB glitch
There is nothing wrong with the PCB.
During the explosions the hardware is pushed to its limits and the things happen that you described.
The same can be seen when running an Espgaluda PCB (same hardware as DOJ).

oh thank you for the replay, now i can sleep better, so its actually just a sprite overload? As i get the PCB is was quite dirty cos that Fan suck all possible dust and stuff into the box, so i was thinking it had a dust overload. But in the later Stages there will be much more Bullets, so it will glitch more? Since i am a beginner with DOJ i just reach Stage 4 by one Coin
Re: DoDonpachi DOJ PCB glitch
All of the CAVE PGM games have this, but it's not as prominent in DOJ. You should however run it outside of the box, as it'll survive longer then. Also look at the big, green battery and make sure you have no acid leakage.Panther wrote:oh thank you for the replay, now i can sleep better, so its actually just a sprite overload? Definitely check the battery though. That is what causes so many of these to fail.
I've ran mine in the metal case for years with no problems.
Re: DoDonpachi DOJ PCB glitch
the Batterie looks fine to me, i think i will keep it in the box. I think they would not put that PCB into a Box with Fan if there is no need for that? If it run without the Fan it will not overheat then?
Re: DoDonpachi DOJ PCB glitch
If you run it without the fan in the metal cage it will get really hot.
If you take it out of the cage, the board will be fine. Ketsui and Espgaluda are essentially on identical boards and were distributed without the cage/fan.

If you gain access to the upgraded DDP-DOJ BL conversion eprom with a plain-vanilla DOJ PCB setup, it'll work just fine with said metal box with fan enclosure indeed.

Re: DoDonpachi DOJ PCB glitch
I run all my PGM boards without a case and fan and they don't get to anything close to resembling hot. The case is the only reason they would need a fan, because it traps heat. Same for CPS2.
Re: DoDonpachi DOJ PCB glitch
The same graphic glitch happens all the time in ESPgaluda when the screen is full of giant gold ingots and explosions.
Re: DoDonpachi DOJ PCB glitch
Happens all the time in Ketsui Arrange
So many chips, so little rendering time.
