Mushihimesama futari music: blast from the past

Post by Spyke »

I knew I'd heard it before somewhere!

Way back in a previous life I had an Acorn Electron and Way of the Exploding Fist. Check out this video and listen to the melody:

Now I have an Xbox 360 and Mushihimesama Futari 1.5. Check out this video and listen to the music:

Get the similarity?

NB - neither of these videos is by me!

I'm guessing it must be a cover of some Chinese folk melody of some kind.

Nice find!

Sampling Master Namiki, that's the main reason why I don't like Futari's OST.

That chinese beat was also used on Spectral vs Generation.

Wow, excellent stuff - thanks for sharing it! Definitely one of my favourite pieces from Futari.

Now I think about it, I'm sure I've heard elements of this track down the arcade. I usually sit near the SFII cab, so maybe Chun-Li's stage :-?

Bullets slower than the enemies who shoot them? The bullet hell sub-genre is ahead of itself.

The way out is cut off

Here's another nice performance. (The famous bit is at about 2:20.)

DON'T skip ahead! Also I thought it started sounding familiar about the 2:00 mark (2:07 as well).

Namiki is such a plagiarizer

Nah but really, that's interesting. It's always fun to find where music from these games was inspired. Blew my mind when I found out about the Batrider boss themes, blows my mind to hear this (although, I guess I kind of felt that I knew the song already when I played Futari).

Song always gets me pumped. It's like "Alright Chinese folk music, so it's the last stage! Do it!!!"

Try search these titles in Chinese(idk their English translation):

采槟榔
瑶山夜歌
翻身农奴把歌唱

They are where st5bgm in Futari originated from.
