Europe
500 GB HDD, 299 EUR, 28 September 2012
12 GB Flash RAM, 229 EUR, 12 October 2012

Awful pricing imo; in Japan the new model will cost the same as Wii U at launch. Maybe Sony didn't get the memo.

EDIT: In Europe, you can buy a 160 GB PS3 Slim for 212.99 EUR (Amazon Germany) 230 EUR (Amazon UK) 219 EUR (Amazon France), right now

Ok, so the Japanese 250 GB version comes with Minna no Golf 6, and the 250 GB US version with Uncharted 3.

But what he hell???? You are supposed to LOWER the price, not RAISE it.

Awful design. Like, really.

Still the best looking PS3 ever produced:

I think the first 60 GB looked best and had the most options and extras, it all went downhill from there .

I heard they held an awesome Vita show at TGS

For the lulz: http://www.amazon.de/PlayStation-Konsol ... 005DEZO40/

Amazon Germany is offering the new 500GB model (including FIFA 13) for 299 EUR, while the current 320 GB model is 212.99 EUR.

Furthermore, the (totally useless) upcoming European 12 GB model is more expensive than the current 160 GB slim.

Sony has reached a new level of crazy today.

Sweet, I hear the "budget price rubber doormat" look is very chic this year.

That can't be right... oh wait, I forgot - It's Sony.

I was thinking it might look better in the flesh, but that video doesn't inspire much.

If Sony are looking for some new employees to empty their bank account even faster, I know a couple of stoners who would be more than up for it.

Looks like a vaporizer or humidor that you'd expect to find in something like the Sharper Image catalog.

I think it looks alright. Not attractive my any means, but it's not a hideous Fisher-Price console either. The sliding top cover is a neat idea and looks to function fairly well, though the latch seems to be fairly weak. All in all this just seems like a par for the course revision. The only thing baffling is why there isn't a $199 USD option. Sony can't compete on price if they don't break that barrier, though with the new generation around the bend it's unlikely that they need to.

I don't give a shit about how it looks, as long as the top loading drive works well and it's not missing any more features. In case my current Triple ever bites the dust, this should be a nice replacement.

It seems to be fine, and nothing else was removed. I still prefer the previous slot loader though, which makes the system feel like a premium product and is more comfortable to use (and has the added benefit of preventing dust from entering the drive). So far no disc of mine has been scratched by my PS3s (fat and slim).

That thing reminds me of some $5 CD holder I had when I was a teenager. It's pretty ugly.

Man, I can almost understand other people's accusations of you being a Sony fanboy.

With only one fixed rotating part, top loaders don't die easily, and they won't chew up your discs either.

In my case, the loader is having problems. I put in the disk, it makes some clicking noises and won't read the disk. I need to eject and insert the disk multiple times to get it working. I see a lot of people complaining about this problem, which I'm guessing wouldn't happen if it was a top loader.

Will probably buy this new console when I head to the US on December and sell my 3-year old one.

@Op Intensify
Eh, that has nothing do do with Sony. I just think a slot loader feels like a higher quality product, while a top loader feels flimsy.
I understand the concerns about it breaking or scratching discs; it just hasn't happened for me (my Wii's slot loader never caused any problems, either).

No, it really isn't. A slot loader feels high tech and advanced, whereas a top loader feels dumb and low-tech and simple.

Who cares about how it "feels?" What matters is how it performs, and holds up to repeated use.

The average consumer, and the vast majority of people who never have had to deal with such problems.

Slot loaders cause more problems on damaging CDs compare to disc trays and top loaders. Even with me spending big bucks on CD players I would never get a slot loader.

He knows that; he's talking about people's perception of having bought a fancy new jukebox vs. the reality of shit breaking in a couple years.

Top loaders forever - just not ones that might get boots wiped on them.

Actually it reminds me of a car stereo amp, just with a too-plain top  It looks serviceable. Will look forward to picking one up in a long time, same as the 360. (Assuming they're quieter, and not hotter, that is.)
