Anyone tested this scart switch?

Post by fandangos »

Hi all, this is my first post here, and please don't considere me rude for jumping on the question but I'm kind of lost.

I live in Brazil and bought 3 scart switches, 3 of the same, that silver one that has push buttons. It sucks.
Now that I'm building my RGB setup with an RGB to component switch on my CRT I need another switch.

I have 9 consoles in RGB via scart now.
So I'm looking for a cheap alternative.

Keene switch is tempting but really expensive.

So I'm looking for this one:

I know it's cheap but maybe it's a worth buying switch.
I need one that don't give crosstalk and degrade the image (I think this is obvious) but it's worth saying.

What you guys think?

Rock Man had one, from his report the picture brightness is significantly dimmed, not recommended.

That's sad.

What about this one?

I'm only asking for the ones that are not in the previews thread about scart switch.

EDIT:
Since I'm poor as hell I'm trying to fix the switch I got.

As you can see the problem lies on those 3 wires soldered directly without passing trought the switch (on/off).

It's just a matter of passing them via the switcher BUT the switcher isn't simetrical.
The 12 pins on the upper part will not directly goes into the botton part.
If that was it it would be a hell lot easier to fix that but it isn't.

So does anyone know the name of this push switcher?
With it's datasheet it would be very easy to fix this cheap scart switcher.

I like to document the things I find and there you go, this is why the switcher doesn't work and it's impossible to fix:

Not like if anyone cared but this is the answer.
The switch only has 6 input/output to control. It's a fault on the design.

So to complete all the minimum 9 wires that the switcher needs the R G B still passes trought all the time.
That's why if the button isn't pressed you see the image jumping, because it's feeding the TV with only R G B. The rest like sync and audio are left out and only work when you press the switch.

A scart switch is a very simple thing. I'm starting to doubt about the overpriced ones.
I believe that 20GBP is enough to build a very solid mechanical one that would avoid any kind of interference.

A scart switch is a very simple thing.
You'd think that wouldn't you? Yet the fact that most switches on the market don't function satisfactorily says otherwise. Sometimes I think SCART runs on voodoo magic or something rather than RGB.
