Bleach DS(Treasure) video
http://www.1up.com/do/download?cId=3136172
after you get past the initial disappointment that the animation kinda sucks and it's running a little slow with all 4 characters on screen (you'll notice a speed boost near the end of the video when one of the characters die), you'll find a decent fighting game.

Mini-cutscenes in mid-battle? Yeesh, that's Final Fantasy territory...might be cool at first, but I'm sure it'd wear out its welcome quickly, I'd hope there's an option to turn those off. And yeah, the animation is rather stiff...still might play okay, but those annoyances certainly can't help matters...

has Treasure gone the way of Squaresoft, sacrificing the creation of excellent games imbued with ungodly creativity, to the much easier route of cashing in on anime-based licensed games? ~_~
fuck you, Treasure. That's all I have to say until you improve the Bleach game from the shitty (hopefully prototype) mode it's currently in.

The Bleach game isn't coming out until early next year, so there is plenty of time to improve. Anyway, it's not like it's Treasure's first game with a lincense. It's also not like a lincense on a game means instant suckage. Remember Astro Boy? That game rocks!Zweihander wrote:has Treasure gone the way of Squaresoft, sacrificing the creation of excellent games imbued with ungodly creativity, to the much easier route of cashing in on anime-based licensed games? ~_~

Yeah, but did Astro Boy look this bad in its early development stages? :/ Agreed, Astro Boy: TOF kicked all kinds of ass... but this looks like it's aiming to be another McDonalds Treasure Land Adventure in its current state.BrianC wrote:The Bleach game isn't coming out until early next year, so there is plenty of time to improve. Yeah, complaining about Treasure making licensed games is so 1993. They've always done it, because it's always paid the bills, and very often they manage to turn the licenses into great games. Here's a neat little quote related to that:
http://gba.gamespy.com/gameboy-advance/ ... 876p1.htmlGameSpy: Treasure has worked on some licensed games that are based on existing properties, such as Tiny Toons and Hajime no Ippo [Fighting Spirit]. Is that difficult or do you have the freedom to work on it that you want?
Maegawa: For the licensing we always make the promise with the licensors that we can do whatever we want for creating the game, so the contract is made based on that promise. For those games, we didn't have any difficulties. Actually, for Tiny Toons [which is a beat 'em up] the licensors asked us not to punch or attack, but then they said it's O.K.

McDonald's Treasure Land was their FIRST game together with Gunstar Heroes (I am not sure which one was released first... I know both were released in the same MONTH).
And don't think its a bad game. Its just too stupidly easy... maybe it was aimed to children. The game plays very well, and it looks gorgeous.

Yeah, I actually liked McDonald's Treasure Land. I also like Wario World and Mischief Makers quite a bit.Shatterhand wrote:McDonald's Treasure Land was their FIRST game together with Gunstar Heroes (I am not sure which one was released first... I know both were released in the same MONTH).

I think saying this is another Treasure Land is a bit harsh.Zweihander wrote:Yeah, but did Astro Boy look this bad in its early development stages? :/ Agreed, Astro Boy: TOF kicked all kinds of ass... but this looks like it's aiming to be another McDonalds Treasure Land Adventure in its current state.BrianC wrote:The Bleach game isn't coming out until early next year, so there is plenty of time to improve. Maybe it was aimed at children? It's McDonald's Treasure Land for god's sake.Shatterhand wrote:

Feedback will set you free.

Yeah, though it's ironic how the other game on Genesis based on McDonald's seems to be on the other end of the difficulty spectrum.Acid King wrote:Maybe it was aimed at children? It's McDonald's Treasure Land for god's sake.Shatterhand wrote:

What, Global Gladiators ? Yes, that one was hard, but I managed to finish it.BrianC wrote:Yeah, though it's ironic how the other game on Genesis based on McDonald's seems to be on the other end of the difficulty spectrum.Acid King wrote:Maybe it was aimed at children? Unlike McDonald's Land (AKA MC Kids) which was available on NES and Amiga. Thats by far the best McDonald based game ever, but I never finished that one. It was supposed to have a Mega-Drive version, but it was never released.
Ooops, I went completely off-topic

Oddly enough, the GB McDonald's Land became a Spot game for the US. I think the Mega Drive Mc Kids was what became Global Gladators.Shatterhand wrote:What, Global Gladiators ? I don't find it very funny. The video doesn't look that bad to me. There is a bit much in the way of in game cutscenes, but the actual fighting looks pretty decent and more animations will probably be added later. The game isn't even coming out until early next year. Why not wait until then to see if the game sucks or not? Even if it does end up sucking, it's not like it will be Treasure's first bad game or the end of Treasure making good games. All companies have stinkers once in awhile."joshschw wrote:

That comment just won you an Internet. It's funny because it's true.... LOL

Both McDonald's Land and Spot games are from Virgin. Maybe at the time of the GB release, Spot was a better "seller" than McDonald's or SomethingBrianC wrote:Oddly enough, the GB McDonald's Land became a Spot game for the US. And I Believe Mega-Drive McDonald's Land couldnt "become" Global Gladiators... it´s weird at least, as BOTH games were released on Amiga. They are very different platform games.

I know they are very different games, but the SNES Cool Spot looked different early in development, so I assumed that the Mega Drive Global Gladatiors could have been planned as an McKids game. It does star the same characters. I know they are from Virgin too. I didn't know about McKids being released on the Amiga, though. Just because I don't know everything about a game doesn't mean I don't know anything. sheesh!Shatterhand wrote:Both McDonald's Land and Spot games are from Virgin. MCKids on Amiga is called "McDonald's Land", and it has gfx and sfx much better than the NES version : http://hol.abime.net/2429
Its funny how in MCKids/McDonald's Land both characters look so different, and in Global Gladiators they are IDENTICAL except one has a little more darker skin than the other.

I just call it "McDonald's Land" McKids becuase I'm used to calling it by that name. I'm not sure if the game was released on Amiga on US as McKids. I miss the old Virgin. Now Shiny isn't even the same. They aren't making 2D games any more.Shatterhand wrote:MCKids on Amiga is called "McDonald's Land", and it has gfx and sfx much better than the NES version : http://hol.abime.net/2429
