Come on man. Antagonism doesn't help.
Maybe not, but I've read a ton of stupid shit on this very forum, and It's certainly influenced my attitudes.

Didn't mean to derail the thread, though...

Hey, OVB, I was just interested in how good they were. I rarely see people bragging with their scores, so I had no reason to assume you did so. I was curious. 2,6b normal Border Team is not bad, btw. Pretty close to what I have.

It actually does!

I had vaguely remembered someone (turns out it was Illyrian) posting a list of recommended games that were relatively easy to clear as a way to get into danmaku shmups, and it had a couple of toehouses and other doujins in it.

Initially I was just looking for that list, but then I was having fun going through the old toohoos cuz they're hilariously bad.

Haven't had a chance to play much more of LLS, but I will get back to it. And I do want to try some of the newer games because it definitely seems like they steadily improve in terms of playability at least.

Right now I found a stack of Saturn games and am just messing around with SSF, good times.

It's a good list, although the whole "touhou on easy" thing just means numbers 6 onwards, and starting with Imperishable Night :)

So Mountain of Faith is actually really good!

And I got the English patch, so I get a bit of story too.

I haven't really been playing for score, but I managed 10M with Marisa on Easy last night. Stage 6 I think?

I always thought the astro port shmups on "Easy" were easier than Touhou on "Easy."
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

You must have gotten 100M. You have to actually try low-scorerunning to get 10M so far into stage 6.

Yeah I think you're right. I looked at the hi-score table and 10M is nothing lol. Even 100M doesn't seem like much, but I haven't read any scoring strategy yet so maybe it's not bad for a blind first playthrough.

I was using Marisa-B, which doesn't seem to be a very popular choice. It seemed the most similar to the way she plays in LLS, but maybe something with a homing shot would be more appropriate in MoF, there's a lot of popcorn and enemies popping up in random places that makes it tricky when using Marisa-B because her shot is very narrow.

Reimu A is the standard homing shot, and it kicks MoF's ass so much you barely need to play. I recommend Reimu B for an interesting game, and you won't feel underpowered. Marisa B is good, but she's glitched at 3.00-3.95 power so that she does about ten times the damage she should. I wouldn't recommend using her, MoF is already a pretty easy game compared to the other Touhous.

I like MarisaC. With her you can place your options wherever you feel like, such as right on top of bosses

MoF has some pretty hard danmaku actually so playing it without bombing is really challenging.

Yeah there were a couple of boss patterns that I had a lot of difficulty with and had to bomb.

Some of the patterns where the bullets spread out in one direction and then change direction two or three times after that are just ffffffffuuuuuuuuuu

Which bosses/patterns are you talking about?

About shot election, yeah, the most interesting is Reimu B, though, if things get complicated, then use Reimu A.
