The long, slow death of Irem continues. Any idea if you can still redownload them if they're already purchased?

I hope Tozai Games gets the rights to rerelease these (and the rest of Irem's digital catalog) like they did with Spelunker HD. They seem to be in line to inherit the Irem legacy.

Long since picked up Delta off PSN, and have a real copy of R-Types, so I'm good.

This is part of the reason I could never go all digital. Hopefully someone picks these up again for release.

Does anyone have any idea of where Irem is selling all their licenses off to? I know that Tozai owns Spelunker now, but no one else has done anything with the R-Type rights so far.

Though Irem hasn't completely lost control of R-Type yet, since the Game Boy B&W version was included in Pachipara 3D.

If you look at their home page now it's 100% pachinko, lol.

I'd actually care if my psp wasn't having to be hooked up to charge when using it. though I have it moved off of my psp, and on my comp. I can just put it back on mah psp and activate it without having to fully download?

Those Anchor Force and Dobkeratops trading cards I got with Delta and R-Types suddenly mean that much more to me. Remove those, assholes! :o

I believe it was only the "R's Best" reissues that included them - you can see one in the pic of this auction, bottom-right (Delta gets a Types card, and vice versa).

Thanks. I guess there's 12 different cards? I guess if somebody already has all the dogtags and they want even more difficult R-Type collectibles to chase after...

I've been looking for a Midnight Eye card for a few years now. The cards occasionally pop up w/ the game on Y!J but they're never the interesting ones.

Wasn't there some guy here who was going for a full collection of the R-Type Final dog tags?

I don't think theres anything I hate more than the entire concept of "acquiring rights". yeah, sure. you just bought out a company for some reason, and will now sue anyone who attempts to obtain the software that they refuse to sell at all. while this may not apply to this particular case, (not sure, I didn't read the whole topic), I've encountered it plenty of times that it damned well pisses me off! If you're gonna bother to take something over or acquire the rights or whatever, at least bother to sell and use the content whose rights you now own. else, the consumer is morally obligated to obtain it in any manner, payed for or obtained for free. (that's you, Mother series)

okay, so that was me venting about years of experience. while I could go on, I'll stop here.

okay, after actually reading the article, I've seen that I had a missconception on what was going on. (I'll keep the rant up for the hell of it) I hope some caring company will buy them up so their legacy can be continued.

On sale on Amazon Digital Downloads today (US only I think) for $9.99 is the 'Enormous .EMU Pack' by DotEmu. It contains the 'IREM Arcade Hits' collection which features 18 games including R-Type Leo and Image Fight among others.

Sadly, it seems DotEmu never really cared to fix the problems with sound and speed issues some users had with it. Last I checked, anyway.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

The IREM pack is now on sale by itself for $3.75 - is the emulation acceptable enough even at that price, or should it still be avoided?

Aren't Tozai the ones who released R-Type Dimensions on XBLA? Maybe that's why it's the only one that hasn't been pulled off yet.

According to the game page on Xbox.com, Yes, Tozai Games™ / SouthEnd Interactive™ are the ones that developed it.
