Dedicated IGS/PGM Board ROM Swaps
How feasible is a ROM swap on one of those dedicated PGM boards? I assume there is some sort of BIOS protection on them ...

Easy peasy. Program ROMs require re-encryption and graphics/sound roms just need to be desoldered and resoldered.
Though, not all of them have the same protection chips. If you just want to switch between CAVE games, that's all that's needed.

ESPGal & Ketsui swap is possible. DDPDOJBL not.
i am offering DDP DOJ BL PGM1 rom cartridge (conversion), the mod is ready since a few days. it was hard work..

Is the PCB number (PCB-0418-00-FX-2 for Ketsui) printed on the PCB the only distinction between the two boards?

Yes. Well, that and the graphics/sound ROMs which need to be desoldered and resoldered with the new ROM data.
Also the decryption key is different, but that's not a big deal.
